Nothing lasts forever, but if the internet stays the same and we will have some liberty in the future, then bitcoin should last at least our lifetime and possibly our childrens lifetime.

But eventually it will be replaced by a coin better designed, although I dont expect this in my lifetime, so i will remain with bitcoin.

Yah, it will definitely be a long run for btc but no one can promise that btc will still be around after 100 or even thousand years later. Maybe there will be more technology advancement and a better digital coin can be implemented with more efficiency.

Well maybe the name will stay around but it will definitely not be the bitcoin of today. I am not even sure if there will be humans by 1000 years, we will eithe have nuclear apocalypse or become cyborgs lol.

I think there are many factors to bitcoin could last forever, the first internal factors and external factors
Internal factors are users continue to use bitcoin and external factors is the internet continues to exist all the time

Nothing lasts forever, just understand that,

But that doesnt mean that bitcoin wont have a long future, it is just now beginning, and people already speculate about it's end.

So lets stop that, and we should enjoy bitcoin right now.

good point. is there a specific man made object that is in existence for a long time without change?
people will always speculate about the end of something, it is in their nature. everyday someone somewhere tell somebody that bitcoin will die and one day someone will be right. hopefully thousands will be wrong before that.

No in my opinion. There are simply too much issues with it at the moment.

For instance, block times are way too long for instant transactions. The blockchain is getting too bloated. It's using up energy inefficiently.
One day, bitcoin will fall.

I just hope that day will not come any time soon.
I mean, it's probably okay if there's something that can be a replacement for bitcoin but while there isn't, I really do hope it doesn't happen yet.
I dont think that the bitcoin is designed to last for ever because the bitcoin hass nothing to say for that you know there are so many users they will cause the bitcoin
his dead for sure!

I've been thinking about it since last night and I couldn't find an answer to myself.
I know that there's a 21 million block cap and we wouldn't actually be here to see that time it comes to that point.
But assuming that we have reached reward era 34, what happens then? Miners wouldn't have any rewards from mining then.

Anyone care to help explain a few things for me?
I do think that the Bitcoin is designed to be forever because they made sure that the main thing was the use of the internet and that is never going away.
I do thin that there intention was to last forever in this world.

But, I don't think there will be any chances for internet to go down so that bitcoin may get affected. Bitcoin will last forever in this world as long as technologies and human are surviving. It means any abnormal events may cause problems to human race and bitcoins. Technically bitcoin will last for ever by solving its requirements and challenges.

Though we don't want it to get replaced or maybe it wont be replaced but it is also said that there is always chance of betterment in something, so maybe as you said some other coin or a currency will be generated in coming time with more better and unique features which might let bitcoin fall down and takes its place, because anything is possible.

one thing to have in mind is that forever does not mean a long time because it can be around for a very long time but not forever.

anything has some kind of expiration date and that thing is either going to change and adapt the new world in the future or it will die off soon.

this "thing" can be bitcoin or it can be any technology in the world as we can simply see by looking at the history and how many things have dissipated.

Bitcoin is just a data and you can't kill a data or physically destroy a data. Everything that has been posted on the Internet will be here forever unless permanently deleted of course. Bitcoin is just a data that is saved on the Internet. As long as there's Internet, Bitcoin will always be here and I don't think Internet will ever shut down because it's necessary in our daily lives.

To last forever as a successful currency, bitcoin always needs some demand from citizens of this world.
Based on speculating the future electronic commerce, we are able to predict the future of bitcoin and its survival. 90% of future transactions will be done through internet, the fast growing of mobile transaction is a very good example for this. I too believe there will not be any problem for bitcoin to last forever.
Yes, digitalization and need of electronic payment system are emerging everywhere, so the demand for bitcoin system is keep on raising.

When there will be need of electronic payments for our daily life and usage, we never need to worry about the existence of bitcoin system as it will be surviving with its applications. Bitcoin has many advantages to suit almost every people of this world, so bitcoin will be used always by us for our daily life.

I do think that bitcoin is mend to stay forever that is why making use of the inter was there because that is going to be around forever.
I do think that bitcoin is the potential to be around forever but if it will happen is something else.

when we will reach to the limit then no more bitcoin will genrate and then the increase in the rate of bitcoin will start and it will going on increasing because the number of newcomer in the bitcoin will came and due to this the no. of bitcoin per bitcoiner will became less this will results in the rise price of bitcoin .

No. But it can become the world's history. If something good will happen that every people will know about it and somehow use it then it can create a worldwide mark. But we dont know if that can happen.

Yes, nothing would last forever. Bitcoin was designed and expected to last more for another 160 years from this date. But if there are other factors that would hinder the development or replace bitcoin such as the potential threat of the quantum computers, bitcoin may possibly disappear earlier than expected. But let us not fear and continue to do bitcoin since if we stop now we will lose the potential  income that bitcoin offers.

yeah i think nothing is eternal in this world, including the bitcoin, I do not know what that reason could make bitcoin become lost or replaced. it's all still a mystery, but it is certain that nothing can be immortal

Only God is eternal. Everything doesnt exist forever. Though I think it will take longer before bitcoin runs out in mining it.  There will be halvig over and over again until the last drop of this coin. Years will be counted for it and that doesnt end with that. It will circulate like money that are printed out.

Yes, there is every possibility of getting another coin just like we have ethereum now but it will be very difficult to get another coin that will completely replace bitcoin in the next century. Take it that bitcoin is designed to last forever because until the end of your lifetime bitcoin will still be existing.
