Did the dollar symbol in the tables in the original post change to pound symbols recently? £180.55 not $180.55? Or have they always been like that? Huh

It must be an error. If it's pounds then the calculation's wrong.

I think when we reach Malta ($467.59) - in a few weeks time maybe? I ought to treat myself to a holiday there and visit some family Smiley

This thread is cool!

An extra way to display this data is by a world map where all the bitcoin > parity countries get coloured in (say gold colour) and the rest are grey.  Would take some work to do though- just had an idea if someone here has the time to do it.

Edit-added:  Perhaps even make it an animation where it cycles through the progression of bitcoin overtaking the world.

Now that I think about it a bit, the map should really be the cumulative total of the countries that it equals (which at the moment would be about equal to the Solomon Islands-- I think).

Does it strike anybody as ironic that the last country to be overcome on this list is Japan?

Anybody?

Yes, but it would be more meaningful if it was cumulative.  You would colour it in in order from smallest to largest, but the value of Bitcoin should be greater than the cumulative total of all countries that are coloured in, for it to be meaningful.

I think moving into 60B territory and as such matching Facebook and likes of Buffet and Gates is not out of question in mid term ~3-5 years, optimistically. That would be about 6300$ per coin.

I have to wonder if the price is increasing solely to keep this thread going.

Mali, this is the least depressing picture I could find. Hope we will not stay here long.

Your wish has been granted. Honduras next. I had a copy of this image from Honduras on my wall some years ago:
