A couple of days ago, I had a transaction take 1 hour to confirm! Never had that before, and have since increased the fee I pay in the hope of avoiding that in the future. I wonder if the network is becoming overloaded.

oh man this is a pretty old topic. The short of it, always use the suggest fee, or a little higher, in the bitcoin client but that is still no guarantee. There are many factors that go into it and to be a smart consumer you need to learn and understand some of the details. If you really want to know then ins and outs check this link out.

it really depends on the transaction fees you paid and how many unconfirmed transaction are in the memory pool currently (you can check it here: https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions) so basically the miners will pick up and include in a block the transactions that pays more fees than others so if you pay less fee, you will need to wait probably a little longer to get a confirmation

apparently yes. it depends on the status of the server of blockchain. somethimes it took 8hrs because blockchain is the favorite spot of the ddos attacker. hahaha

DDoS attacker? blockchain is different from blockchain.info (block explorer) don't think of them being the same.

It sometimes even takes longer at the moment to get the confirmations. Don't know why that is.

It varies by the following reasons :- a) It depends upon the transaction fees the user paid for the transaction, b) It depends upon how much strong the Bitcoin network is...

For me confirmations usually take 10 to 15 minutes. As others have said, if the fee is too small, then it could take a lot longer. I've also found that if you are trying to move a very small amount of bitcoin, the fees could be more that the bitcoin that you are sending.

Frankly speaking this is normal. It no that network is becoming overloaded, because we have still huge capacity. It is the amount of transaction with extremely low fee and dust transaction which can be a problem and somewhat choke blockchain. Don't worry about it and wait for bitcoin upgrades on which developers work on right now - like SegWit and Lightning network...

I ever had a transaction it took 9 hours to confirm, it must be the fee, it's lower than recommended fee, or maybe it's too small as we know that the highest fee you provide of course fastest confirmation you get.

yes it can take 1hr for one confirmation but thats a kind of rare because nowdays transactions became very faster and the network is vwry secure. so if you have that much slow transaction then probably you put very low transaction fees or something like that.

What was the transaction fee?
Medium priority transactions usually take 6 blocks to confirm(something like 1 hour or so),

I guess that is normal, depending on the fee that you provide. Yesterday I deposit to yobit.net for 2 confrimasi takes about 1 hour.

I thought small bitcoin amounts were supposed to be free. I received about 0.0099btc, checked it on blockchain, saw the amount, but in my total balance it wrote 0. Now I'm confused, did the miner collect all the money?

Friends we must have to understand What exactly bitcoin transaction means.
Bitcoin transaction means amount you send to any other wallet, it require confirmations by miners by verifying that particular transaction. Now while verifying that transaction miner solve blocks. Now generally 1 block takes 10 minutes to solve but some times it depends on block difficulty and block height. If transaction is big then it took 1 hour as after solving 6 blocks.

Sure, I've had transactions take as long if not longer on occasions, there is nothing you can really do about that, you just have to hope you're in luck when you're sending/receiving BTC. From experience, increasing the transaction fee doesn't guarantee that the transaction will be completed faster. One thing worth mentioning is that when you use Coinbase to pay for stuff via BitPay checkout, you never have to wait for any confirmations, your transaction is accepted/cleared instantly even if you have 0 confirmations.

The average time for confirmation of transactions depends upon the following things:- 1. It mainly depends upon the fee the user paid for the transaction..... 2. It also depends upon the bitcoin network nodes, and the level of the Bitcoin network. If the Bitcoin network is strong then the Bitcoin transactions are very fast but if the Bitcoin network is weak then the transaction confirmations are Slow.....

Yes, sometimes. I remember having to wait about 3-4hrs for confirmation on a blockchain to coinbase transaction last month. Funny enough, during the wait period I was silently praying my coins weren't lost lol
