Some very promising stuff comming from CaVirtex

As shown in Page 8 : https://www.havelockinvestments.com/fund.php?symbol=VTX

Quote
VirtEx plans to allow customers to short the Bitcoin and launch a new fund on Havelock
Investments (HAVELOCK), the VirtEx Shorting Fund (VTXSF). Just like the stock market, when
any short position is initiated a loan takes place and interest is charged on that loan. The
interest collected from short positions on VirtEx will be equally distributed to shareholders
of VTXSF and paid daily. VTXSF will pay up to 12% per year interest while guaranteeing the
initial Bitcoin investment. As of now, VirtEx would be the only exchange in the world paying
interest on Bitcoin deposits.
VTXSF will be created for the following reasons:
 Bitcoin Speculation: VirtEx does not take a speculative position on Bitcoin and so
customers interested in holding their Bitcoin may want to invest in the fund and earn
interest while taking a speculative position.
 Marketing: Once the word spreads that VirtEx is offering a Bitcoin interest paying fund
that is 100% secured by an exchange many more customers and investors will take
notice

(IPO got released today)

Is there a thread about CaVirtex in general?  I can't find one.

I'm wondering if they offer any kind of 2-factor authentification on their exchange.  I can't find that either!

I have an account on there, but no balance yet because of the fees, and I just searched the site and found no options or mention about 2-factor authentication.

They should start an official thread.  I will pop them an e-mail right now about creating a thread.  I am surprised they aren't maintaining one on here.

I just searched the site and found no options or mention about 2-factor authentication.

I found it, here:

Quote
Additional Security: We have plans to introduce two-factor authentication in addition to your e-mail. We are exploring services such as google authenticator and SMS text to phone before being allowed to withdraw or trade.

I expect it will be added very soon since google authenticator is pretty much trivial to add to a site.  There's a very short Python script here which shows how simple the algorithm is.

my guess is they sell it because the price of BTC is rising,  This has a positive effect on Cavirtex profits but in the longer term.

I'm grabbing some more.

The IPO wasn't in BTC but was pegged at $30 per share and the BTC price was adjusted during the IPO to keep it at $30 (or near).  So the giant rise in BTC would all of a sudden value impact hat IPO price greater then it should.  If that makes sense.

Actually Bitfinex offers interest on Bitcoin deposits for quite a while now... and you can go long there too! How did they come up with these 12% and what is guaranteed as a minimum? 0%? More?

VertEx is the exchange that I do the most trading with because I live in Canada. They have been very reliable and I spoke with someone at their customer support phone line who was able to help me quickly. There were some slow-downs yesterday because of the crazy volatility BTC experienced. They are upgrading their servers today. They seem to be very forward thinking and I hope they continue to grow. The more solid, reliable bitcoin exchanges out there the better for everyone.

I did get an email reply from the CaVirtex CEO saying they do plan to manage an official thread on bitcointalk in the near future.

I am wondering what's up with the share price.  I see they're trade volume increasing weekly and have heard nothing but good reviews about their service.

I'm guessing there aren't many people trading their shares and the few people who are, are trying to take profit by jumping between the spread.

Seems like with many bitcoin companies the share prices fall as Btc gains more value against the dollar, why is that?  The earnings all come in the form Btc so wouldn't an increase in trade volume on CaVirtex create more value in the shares?

My guess would be the trade volume in CAD is rising, but in BTC is falling.  As the price goes up it takes more CAD to buy less BTC.

That is true for the buy side of things because they take a % in CAD, but on the selling side of every trade they are taking their % in btc.

Hi medicine,

Was looking through some old threads and I noticed this one. We have set up an official CaVirtex thread here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=218435.msg2296660#msg2296660

Also, if you're not already aware, we do have 2-factor authentication.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks.

CAVIRTEX is Canada's #1 Bitcoin exchange with over 90 million CAD traded in our 3 years of operations. Visit https://www.cavirtex.com.
