I was about to post about how the estimated next difficulty has just gone over 6M when I realized that this site had never been officially announced here.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Lol, I thought this post meant that difficulty was about to increase by 6 million. But I see it's only ~4 actually.

I thought that too Cheesy. Right now it's predicted to jump from 31256960.73 to 37474856.93 (i.e. a 6217896.20 change) with only 14 hours left, according to http://dot-bit.org/tools/nextDifficulty.php.
