What makes a financial platform worthy for investment?

I was thinking of investing into some high quality financial platform because I can do it at the moment. Most financial platforms I know I found on bitcointalk first. Considering I found more than one platform with awesome reputation and nice team and since I want to start in small and choose the platform well, I wonder what makes a financial platform worthy to invest to?

Please explain it to me like I was your little sis because I am such a little girl in the altcoin / alt financial platform investment business!
