Quick question, please excuse my ignorance on this ... I've searched everywhere and can't really find an answer.

If (hopefully when) I receive my found.txt with the priv key in hex, how do I convert that to a WIF?
Is there something simple I'm completely missing here? I'm terrible at math so hopefully there's a tool to do this.

Or like posted before on https://www.bitaddress.org/ and here click "Wallet Details" for an online converter of the hexkey

I have been told the English article would appear on https://btcmanager.com/, but whatever...

Thanks heaps Patrick349, rico666 & Real-Duke.

The German post helped heaps.  I was getting confused with the hex addition part.
Really appreciate it!

BTW, has anyone else noticed that when you hit 'e' it starts another entire loop before ending?

Yes.  Smiley

It's documented - admittedly somewhere buried in this thread.

Since the generator has a so called loop mode (which made it faster by eliminating startup-times), LBC cannot stop it during a round as it evaluates keyboard input buffer after a round - also to spare CPU cycles.
I'm thinking about a way better mechanism that would allow for a) immediate ending and b) not losing work done so far, but that needs more work and there are other pressing things.

So until then, pressing "e" means your LBC client will end gracefully in 100-200% of the time X you gave with -t X (depending on when you press the key).

Article on the LBC in Fortune magazine.  Not researched terribly well.

this article is ridiculous. At least research correctly before posting such nonsense.

LOL. Well, now we at least know which magazines are worth reading and which not.

VICE Motherboard, bitcoin.de at least did contact me and ask questions via email and did not alter the answers too much.
Fortune.com ... wow. Just wow. 2nd guessing with pulling things out of their ass.

BTW: I find out easily these days if a new article about the collider appears. All of the sudden the "About page" is called slightly more frequently.  Cheesy

Sounds like a crazy but cool project! Don't want to imagine what will happen to Bitcoin's price after this works though..

How long do you think it takes to actually be able to crack this?

The Large Bitcoin Collider (LBC - a.k.a. Collision Finders Pool) is a distributed effort to find private keys to BTC addresses that have funds on them.
See also https://lbc.cryptoguru.org/man/theory#what-we-do
It was using clients that have been developed in the Collision Attack Feasibility Study and later also a derivative of brainflayer (called "HRD-core"). Meanwhile, HRD-core is a complete re-implementation of the BTC address generation process and as such the fastest program on the planet!

Project homepage: https://lbc.cryptoguru.org
Downloads: https://lbc.cryptoguru.org/download
Statistics: https://lbc.cryptoguru.org/stats
Twitter: https://twitter.com/LBC_collider

News:

  • 2017-03-27: CPU generators with arulbero-ECC released with up to 79% speed increase
  • 2017-03-25: again 250% speed increase with a new CPU/GPU hybrid generator! (Arulbero-ECC)

TODO:

Pending work/development on the LBC components.

Generator (hrd-core):
  • unified generator (one binary for CPU and GPU)

LBC client
  • More elaborated benchmark (not just maximal performance, but adaptive, also in relation to number of CPUs used)
  • Aggregator: manage several generators even on remote servers by just one LBC client (postponed)

LBC server
  • manual updates & extensions (GPU/OpenCL)

The question is a little bit unspecific, but let's say for now that LBC is an "ongoing project".
I cannot say for now how long we will need to rush through the search space, but I know one thing for sure
It's not going to take *-illions (or even thousands) of years how some linear-minded "math experts" like to point out.

We're still in the early phase. I took the liberty of drawing a speed chart of the pool for the past 6 months.

The link in the above is how I found this thread.

https://forums.khronos.org/showthread.php/13206-Need-OpenCL-program-(oclvanitygen)-modification?p=41031#post41031

Quote
Hi,

I need to modify an OpenCL programm called oclvanitygen (https://github.com/samr7/vanitygen) which is used to generate (= search for) "Vanity" Bitcoin addresses.

The modification - i believe - should be quite ease as it would mainly consist of handling the program a specific private-key offset, where oclvanitygen would start its search from.
Currently according to documentation, oclvanitygen simply chooses some offset randomly and then starts counting from that offset for 100 mio keys until it gets another offset randomly.

I tried to get a grip on the code (oclvanitygen.c), but gave up. Somehow it doesn't fit into what I consider a well structured program.
And of course I'm very inexperienced in OpenCL, so even a well structured program may not look like that to me.

In case you'd be interested to help out, we can certainly agree on some compensation for your efforts. In case you're interested simply PM me.
If the modifications are successful and you think there is more optimization potential (speed), we can of course continue the project.

Rico

Akin to "I'm an expert banana split maker. Does anybody know where I can source bananas? Cavendish preferred but will entertain the dwarf variety."

How does one shut down the Large Bitcoin Collider? By proclaiming that I may or may not know the true identity of the person behind it.  Wink

Meanwhile, I'm conducting a survey to see if anybody's interested in participating in my Large Crypto Collider project capable of unlocking all known keys of past, present and future cryptocurrency wallet addresses regardless the flavor (e.g. RateCoin, NOT Quark types).

I do need help in one aspect so to build the MOAC (Mother of all Colliders): Should the following be hooked up in series or parallel?
