So I am sure we have all heard of the new Kim Dot Coms's platform MEGAUPLOAD 2 that will be launching and solving the block size issues. Well can anyone think of any a new platform can do this with out getting incorporated directly into the bitcoin core code?
I mean what he is talking about is changing bitcoin but how can that happen without some form of control over it?
Sorry if this is the wrong category I just thought this would be answered better by people with technical ability unlike myself.

hmm ok thanks but why? I mean can you elaborate slightly please He has provided absolutely no details and only hype and claims that he can do it. There is nothing that indicates he knows what he is talking about nor that he actually has a solution.

Before I rule it out I would like to know if it is technically possible and if so how If it were possible, it would have already been done. In order to scale Bitcoin, we still need a fork, either a hard or soft fork. To do so would also require changing consensus and thus modify the source code. Furthermore, the solution would still need to be vetted by the current developers and detailed specifications of the thing must exist before people should even consider using whatever he creates for scaling BItcoin.

He has claimed that his "bitcache solution will fix bitcoin's civil war". This I think it's obviously delusional. How can this fatass that hasn't ever done anything really groundbreaking engineering wise, can come up with a solution when we have the best minds in the game working on this? I will not believe it until I see the code working.

He only posted a video boasting about that he created 2FA, he created internet on car infotainment systems, he created cloud sharing, he created this, he created that, he knows what he's doing and he's going to make Bitcoin amazing and integrated into his new website. I'm not underplaying his skills or his role in technology (and Megaupload and Mega certainly had a big impact on the internet) however he isn't saying a thing on what that Bitcache thing he's talking about consists or what's it going to be about. What does it have that will solve block issues? I highly doubt he'd be able to do that unless he was actively contributing to a Bitcoin reference client by developing it. I seriously don't know what he's talking about No plans, no ideas, just a "hey, I'm doing something cool, news later".

I don't know how can he alone without collaboration with the bitcoin core dev can solve the block size issue? I haven't seen anything from Kim saying in detail what the bitcache will be but since the bitcoin will be used there I think is a good news and a hope for us that the bitcoin price will be increased soon.

If you think about it, it has to be something serious, otherwise he will ruin his reputation. If you hype something this much, you better deliver or you will get fucked by the critics.

Say what you want about him, but this guy made hundreds of millions of dollars off Megaupload. (Before most of it was seized by the feds.) He definitely knows a lot about computers, the internet, and how to make money.
If he creates some kind of service that takes BTC as payment, it could lead to a ton of new users adopting the coins as a payment system.

A big fat train is coming. Maybe it's fake and made of rubbish. Maybe it's golden and made of dreams. The only sure thing is that everyone will be at the station, watching and maybe trying to get on it. IMHO it's too soon to say something about this.

Could go either way, really. Dotcom does have a reputation for being a bit of a loudmouth, but that's simply a tried and tested business strategy these days, heh. Plus I'm sure that even if he didn't have the required expertise to pull it off by himself, he'd certainly have built up enough contacts in all the relevant fields by now to have a team with him capable of achieving such lofty goals.
It's entirely possible to build services on top of the Bitcoin blockchain without modifying the code base or having a fork. Just look at stuff like Omni and Factom. If anything, I'd assume his proposal does something similar to Factom or possibly Maidsafe. Rather than storing files directly on the blockchain, it could just store a reference or hash pertaining to the files in a much smaller amount of space and the files themselves could then be broken down into tiny pieces and distributed over a peer-to-peer network accordingly.

Kim is a successful businessman ,the government did not like his line of work and stole his money and wanted him jailed. he just provided a platform and he never released any pirated content. It is the same like suing the ISP for the illegal downloads their customers do. Things dont work like that no matter how much money MPAA and others spend on that For the clarification of OP, you are talking about the MegaNet project which is proposed to be completed only by 2018.According to him ,the dream project MegaNet has a unique file crystallization and recreation protocol utilizing the blockchain. You can load entire websites with this new technology and it makes them immune to almost all hacker attacks and ddos. It does not mean he will incorporate that with the bitcoin . Blockchain does have a wider scope of utilization capabilities rather than just bitcoin, hope people will understand those soon
