I usually do not click on the news link here anyways so it doesn't affect me what so ever.  Wink
I just like the headline news to get the scoop of the day. Grin

I saw this news on thenextweb and was a bit curious how this auction will end, can anyone participate on this auction for example bidding only for 1 bitcoin or the bidders should bid for the entire amount of bitcoin? I'm afraid that the price will get lower because of this auction

It's all on the auction page. This auction will have one block only (and blocks on previous auctions were way bigger than 1 BTC... Cheesy)

Looks like the bidding is for two separate blocks, one with 20k and one with 30k bitcoins. A depost of $100k and $150k is also required to be eligible for bidding along with a bunch of other hassles.

http://satoshibonus.blogspot.com/2016/08/us-is-goin-to-auction-bitcoin.html

These are the bitcoins that are recovered from different cases / claims / investigations
On the other hand Government is not sure about Bitcoin as currency how will they handle the amount ?

thats a good thing i guess because it should mean that bitcoin is legal

Your looking at the info of previous Bitcoin auction. This time only 2,700 Bitcoins going to be auctioned, in one batch. So this auction is for rich people only, the same way as before.

A quick search shows that this was copied from http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN10J1JP.

If you really want to get profits, use ads. Refs don't earn shit. Also, you'll get more if your content is unique.

looking for a signature campaign, dm me for that

Although yes, unique content is better, but you don't need that to thrive. Curation is a legitimate strategy.

@ontopic, is this still the same auction for the btcs seized from Silk Road?

This auction seems interesting, single block and all funds will be transferred to a single address. "You will not have the opportunity to view other bids. You will not have the opportunity to change your bid once submitted." This makes the auction to be high competitive as the bidders don't know if they won or not until the auction is over.
