That's normal. Just wait.

How much RAM do you have?

In the next version - 0.13.0 - the "activating best chain" process should run in the background.

How much RAM do you have?

8GB ddr3 1333MHz,

i had 12GB, but for some reason... Kingston or X58 motherboards, do not like Triple Channel...
Memtest+ fail with triple channel,

i have 2 different x58 boards, both fail memory test.. exactly the same place.
BUT...

each memory module Pass OK individually.
want to buy another brand of memory to test.

but purchasing NonECC memory is a waste of money.
better to invest in a New Board with ECC Registered.

http://www.memtest.org/
http://www.memtest86.com/
http://hcidesign.com/memtest/

Windows Memory Diagnostic Pass, but in standar mode, if Advanced Fails.

...both fail memory test.. exactly the same place.
...

You should definitely get this resolved as this is a very memory intensive process.

I have 4 gb and sometimes it takes ages... it's very annoying to be honest. I know 4GB is not much these days...
They are in good standing, memtest passed.

yes, using 2x works fine...
Both X58 boards are different brand, Asus & MSI.
error is at 11GB.

It makes no sense...

To erase all and download again takes less time, all blocks takes at 10Mbps "1.25MB/s"
45GB in 10 Hours...
Validating Longest Chain is a waste of time.

But I will wait 24hours, then kaput.

The problem is not memory, because task manager say Bitcoin only uses 164K, and 1.6GB total system.

Again, we need to see the log file. Just telling us how long it is taking does not help at all. The information you are giving us is not enough for anyone to diagnose the problem or be able help you.

If you give us the log file, we can better help you. Otherwise, just kill it and restart the program. It will not redownload the blockchain and it should not corrupt the database.

Close & Open Bitcoin Core fast, it will Open 2 bitcoin in TaskManager, then close & Open again,
or remove the power from your PC, or The battery if its a laptop.
That's enough to Make "Activating Best Chain."
Or try to run in server mode with latest guiminer.

You Don't Need my lol file, you can have your own.
LOL.

Do it specially when you are 1 year behind. You won't regret it. LOL. Jajajajajaja

Everyone's computer is different. Bitcoin Core behaves differently depending on the computer, the software on your system, and whatever else that you did with it. It always depends on your installation. There are these things called edge cases, they aren't always reproducible and can be extremely difficult to intentionally cause.

You Don't Need my lol file, you can have your own.
LOL.
Since you refuse to let yourself to be helped, I will stop helping you.

And the key difference between you and me is that I know what I am doing and can identify the issue and resolve it myself. I won't go crying to some forum and then refuse help when it is offered. If I need help, I will ask for it and accept the assistance when it is offered. As a developer, I can find the issue, and if it can be reliably reproduced, fix the problem and submit a patch.

Edit: Did exactly what you said. Started Bitcoin Core, killed it via task manager. Did it again, no problems there. Started it again, pulled the plug on my computer, rebooted, started the program again, no problems there. So, as I said above, this problem is not reproducible, there are edge cases that happen. In order to diagnose the issue and in order to help you, we need to see the logs.

You should move this out of technical support, since you clearly don't want "technical support" and are just trolling.

The problem is in the C:\bitcoin-0.12.1-win64
 folder
something gets corrupted...

i have deleted completely the C:\Users\jpc\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin
3-times and downloading new blocks gives an error,
enters Activating Best Chain mode.
delete /Roaming/Bitcoin folder
downloading new blocks gives an error,
done 3-times.

deleted C:\bitcoin-0.12.1-win64
 folder and works again.

older Bitcoin 0.3.x, had a folder called BitData.
that change could have caused some problems.
file/folder structures are very different.

Original software was not designed like this.

for example: older wallets.dat do not work with new Bitcoin cores,
and older Bitcoin cannot download all blocks.

No such folder of that name should ever be created by the software unless you set that as the data directory or that is where you installed the progra. Having that folder is unusual; something is wrong here.

Is that folder created every time you run bitcoin core? Where did you download Bitcoin Core from?

i have WinRAR, drag clicking a .zip or .rar file can be extracted to a folder named exactly the same as the file name or not...
http://rarsoft.com/download.htm

i have downloaded BitCoin Core 0.12.1 from:
https://bitcoin.org/bin/bitcoin-core-0.12.1/bitcoin-0.12.1-win64.zip

i like to download .zip or .rar because it can be crc32 verified by WinRAR,
i don´t like to download .exe because i can´t see what´s inside, before it´s too late.

error happened again...
problem must be or mi Wi-Fi adapter RTL8192SL drivers are crap, or my ISP provider.
nothing like RTL8187 compatible with everything.
My SSD error check pass OK, with Windows disk error check and with HDTune:
http://www.hdtune.com/download.html
and with Samsung Magician.
http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/download/tools.html
