Bitcoin is virtual currency for criminal

Sure, Bitcoin probably started out that way and unfortunately keeps its reputation as the "drug money of choice". I remember reading the original Galker and Slashdot articles in 2010-11 explaining how to use Bitcoin for the Silk Road complete with onion links. (It used to piss theymos off so much back then if you linked to the Galker article in a post your post would be deleted. LOL)

I was intrigued and wanted to know more about this "Bitcoin" thing. It was the first time I ever heard about Bitcoin or the Silk Road. I came here to look around and ended up having a few mining discussions with organofcorti and Goat. I slowly realized I could be at the start of something that could make history (or at least make me some extra scratch). I started mining heavily because of the influence of the two guys mentioned above and TerryTibbs (for ltc).

I definitely would never have found out about Bitcoin without its notorious drug connection.

I agree with that. Bitcoin cant count as a criminal case unless used it at bad things. For example, you bought some drugs that are illegal in your country, that will count as a crime. But if you use your bitcoin to buy a Legit Car, then that will not count as a crime.

Yes. Thats true. Bitcoin is created only for positive things. Not for doing some crimes online. But if you would look how bitcoin is used, you can see that bitcoin is also used to buy and sell things without telling your own Identity. And thats one reason why bitcoin is used for anonymous transactions online.

At the moment, bitcoin has really limited use. Most likely the terrorist/criminal will still need to cash out to fiats before they can buy what they need. At the end of the day, fiats are actually the real currencies used by them.

these people are idiots who think this way about bitcoin, their thought process is like this:
they look at themselves and see they are not using bitcoin, and they don't even know what bitcoin is. then thinking more they recall a faded memory of reading something somewhere about someone who used bitcoin to do an illegal act like buying drugs so they make the conclusion that bitcoin is for criminals.
and this fault is on the media for showing bitcoin this way.

Why do you ask such questions? You are member already and here we have many threads about connection between bitcoin and criminal activities, how you didn`t saw all that?
Bitcoin is currency like any other, and bitcoin can be used for good and bad, like dollar or euro.. you already saw some very good comments about this,  don`t be lazy, search around forum a bit more and you can find many useful information`t about how to explain to people what is bitcoin, and how to explain them that bitcoin is not criminal, its just people that use bitcoin in evil purposes.
Now you can lock the thread, cause you made a "spam thread".

I haven't really been in any discussions where I'd have to go and refute why Bitcoin isn't a currency for criminals, but I have thought about it in the past and basically my thought process is quite similar to yours. Bitcoin is just another financial tool, and if criminals wanted to trade money and buy things they wouldn't have to use Bitcoin. Bitcoin just adds a bit more of a layer of anonymity to everything.

How can you know that? if ever there was a survey that happened. Because I do not think anyone knows for sure criminals, more use dollars or bitcoin. But I think because the dollar is better known, the majority of criminal use this currency. IMO

Its not about surveys, but the amount of money estimated in all worldwide criminal activites exceed Bitcoin capacity by a lot - the Bitcoin blockchain dont have such wealth transfers recorded even if Bitcoin was used just for criminal activites, which it is not of course. Probably majority of people (including criminals) going to use Bitcoin in future, simply because of Bitcoin better properties, but now its under 1%.
