Not sure if it is the same thing but there has been quite a bit of stuff in the news in the last year or so about Somaliland and how cash is not used there. http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20170912-the-surprising-place-where-cash-is-going-extinct

I saw that also recently. That is basically the same thing. The way they are setup using the mpesa system in kenya and several other countries to me seems just one step away from a cyrpto to jump in. The interesting part is that somalilands digital currency is tied to the USD.

the wallet typically takes less than 10mins to sync but currently we haven't had any block mines so it might stop at block 91469. soon as the mining continues, wallet will fully sync with coin network
