  I know many of us here are not included or affiliated to any crime online which involves bitcoin. but we have to stand for this currency that has helped many of us achieve most of our dream OR GOAL

Many scammers and fraudsters accept payment through bitcoin and it is giving bitcoin a bad name.
So-many country law enforcement agency are targeting bitcoin and looking for any slightest opportunity to bring down this great currency down, many of them clam that the are investing on the Blockchan technology why at the back the are trying different ways to bring down this currency BTC

I remember the time when law enforcement agency arrest people that are involved in Bitcoin or those using it (but now the have been slight changes in some country but not all)

So who has an idea of how we can Give bitcoin a good name?
What can we do to help this currency?

2: Discourage people to do scam in bitcoin
3: Don't support Scammers by buying selling without escrow
4: Don't store your bitcoins in exchanges and don't give hackers chance to hack big money
5: Don't invest your bitcoins in any site without confirming about that anything
6: Never Invest in cloudmining,
7: Never Invest in Ponzi hyip sites. never in bitcoin doubler,
8: Don't give loan without valid collateral to a newbie(to anyone basically)

these are some basic things everyone if consider them bitcoin will gain a good name and reputation among the whole world

bitcoin itself is not the problem. its only code. it has no artificial intelliagence, nor emotion nor a voice or opinion.
the problem is bitcoin users and bitcoin businesses..

stop the rhetoric that bitcoin businesses need AML regulation to be legitimate and safe for customers

at the very most bitcoin businesses need to have consumer protection in mind.
regulations are not about 100% consumer protection. after all people were made homeless after the regulated banks were bailed out..

regulations pretend to be about consumer protection but are only 5% involved with that category.
businesses should avoid the failures of fiat regulations that stiffle business (95% headache of regulations) and expand and be better at consumer protection than the fiat world is

so as long as consumer protection is covered then that would atleast allow legit businesses to do business with customers confidence that if anything went wrong there is someone that can slap the book at a business.

i honestly thought that bitgo was going to be a positive with all of their 'security' and insured funds if using their service.. but the bitfinex incident made me lose faith in bitgo's service offering. things like this need to change

As long as there will be possible to scam, cheat or make money by fooling others then scam artists will gonna do exactly that.
If bitcoin wasn't the biggest cryptocurrency then we would have Litecoin or Doge scams.

Success of bitcoin scam projects is caused either by people who are totally gullible and will do anything to earn more money.
That is why we have so many Ponzi with guaranteed profit, bitcoin doublers or other bullshit pseudo investment projects.

Another category is however lack of security (or maybe negligence or incompetence of staff) of some big bitcoin businesses Mt.Gox or Bitfinex are core examples.
You can't do really do anything about it.

Actually i came to know that in Nepal also in 2014 bitcoin/virtual currency was considered as illegal and it is still not changed in law. However there are already many doing bitcoin trading as well as face to face buying and selling bitcoin and other ecurrency but government seem to change their mind and may state bitcoin as legal or just remove that illegal term from law.

Scammers and fraudsters use bitcoin because it`s more anonymous and the transactions are irreversible.

Unfortunately those advantages make bitcoin a "scammer friendly" currency.

And unfortunately this stops bitcoin growth.

Bitcoin already has a good name here.

To clear bitcoin name it cant be done by 1 person, it need cooperation from all user, we can start by using bitcoin for a good deeds like charity and teach people how to use bitcoin in honest and proper way, build a community to give a better knowledge about bitcoin, so they dont use it for bad purpose

Hahaha. First of all. Conduct a research regarding on what is the main objective why it created by satoshi nakamoto. Ofcourse this will be friendly for scammer and hacker. But we all know that bitcoin main features is anonymity and we are aware that this might be use in wrong way.. so that is the consequence on using bitcoin, all of us here is anonymous and know what might happened. scammers using bitcoin doesn't make bitcoin a bad thing or have a negative image, but instead it is the media which is advertising bitcoin in this way. they only show the negative side of it.
you only read about hackers who are asking for bitcoin payment.
you never hear about the bitcoin donations to the charity organizations made by regular people. or the number of people using it to pay for their services and subscriptions.
so if you want a change I think you should think of a way to change what media says about bitcoin.

blockchain technology is not equal to bitcoin.
saying "we are investing in blockchain technology" means "we are creating our own altcoin"

Nothing wrong with the name but with the reputation and ways bitcoin was used, it's not about technology or inventions but the real problem are the people.
Those that see so many opportunities to take advantage of and they do it because it's in human nature.
First we need to fix our selves from within then start to think about how to make  our world better in all the ways possible.

Yes name change will not give a good name to bitcoin I think bitcoin need to centralised and It should be accepted through government as well and we need more adoption to secure the bitcoin with huge number of users...

there is not much we can do about bitcoin's reputation. you can only try to inform others about the scams and try to spread the good word about bitcoin and try to tell other people that bitcoin is not as bad as they have been told all these years by the banks and government.

i suggest you change the subject from bitcoin name to bitcoin reputation, "name" is misleading.

It's too late to change the name. Bitcoin is a really cool name too, we don't need a new one. The scamming and crime will keep happening no matter how many times you change the name, so that is nonsense.

You can't really do anything to force Bitcoin into a good name, but there are some very basic things you can do like increase public charitable giving, more public projects or whatever, but a lot of Bitcoin's reputation just has to come naturally. You can't force a reputation.

As for people investing in the blockchain technology while trying to dismantle Bitcoin, it makes sense, they want to use a technology that would conceivably give them more control while opting to destroy what gives them less control.
