why so many scrypt and sha256 coin recently there is really the need to have those algo anymore? asic have already of coin to play with, lately i have not seen any new gpu coin only asic, why?
sha256 is tried and tested, also in the event that there is a way in which to merge mine POS for example (if thats even possible) then it pays to be compatible with the leading coin, which is Bitcoin.
Also, thousands of people lost a small fortune buying overpriced ASICs, it gives them the opportunity to get something back by using legacy equipment.
Scrypt is a GPU coin? I presume you mean CPU coin. CPU mining at the moment provides little reward compared to dedicated miners, and most people have quad core CPU's (or less) which means if they mine more than one coin, using 2+ cores, then it provides hardly any CPU for running applications. Maybe when everyone has 16 core CPUs where its possible to have 4 cores per coin on 3 coins and have 4 cores left for actually using the machine then it might be useful, technology has yet to catch up with the blockchain tech.
Hope that info helps.
XP is tried and tested SHA256 with POW and advanced POS with block splitting.
Thanks.
