Can gambling be considered a "high risk investment"?

While 99% of the people that gamble are long-term losers, there are gamblers that play a game of skill like poker or sports betting that made good profits out of it, so not everyone loses all the time.

Yes hence he is saying high risk investment, because the risk is high as 99% of people loose but yes some win too so yes I can call it as a high risk investment. Though investment is something where we are not testing our luck, so not really sure but you have a fair point OP.

that is the whole point, you can't call everything an investment just because there is risk and money involved. investment is something that is risky but you can manage it and predict the future so your risk/reward ratio is good.

Well one of the problems is that some people have associated high risk investment with things like Ponzi schemes, which are not investments but outright fraud, I think Ponzi schemes and the like have polluted the meaning of the word investment, the same way that Facebook has polluted the meaning of the word friend.

Totally agree too. Gambling is no way to earn money no matter if some people are doing gambling for just money. Investment means there is a plan and its followed and hence gives us profit, while gambling is totally betting with luck. I think gambling is not a high risk investment for the same reason.

Not actually totally base on luck because in gambling we can also install strategies that would give us a great chance to win in the long run and make money, though it is a hard job to do but since there are people who successfully do that then that  would mean that it is doable.

Investing in bitcoin it´s not gambling but no investment brings only positive results and that includes bitcoin, there are people that are still under water because they bought when bitcoin was 1k+, and even when bitcoin reaches a stable 1k+(and I think it will) you must take into consideration inflation and the time that money was frozen.

If you are a player that does gambling then definitely yes. But i think if your the owner of those gambling site or casino then it is not a high risk investment as we all know everyone gambles and many of us gets addicted to it. That is why i think that thefe are many gambling sites showing up right now because they think it is the most profitable of earning money.

Well you are right with it but the thing is that we can't control all the people and there are people that are just becoming happy if they are gambling.

But the reality is that gambling is really a high risk investment, it is just like you are playing and you don't know if you are going to win or lose.

Yup Gambling is nothing but Risk. Yes, some people intensively invest some money in gambling just because of their relaxation. And some people spend money to test their luck. And many people put their money in risk to double their investment. I don't know how many are succeed and how many are sucked. But according to me, i am not succeeding.

to me all kind of investment are risk, and you have to accept the risk and there is no any other option without without accept it, and the second thing is that 95% people are playing gambling for making money and there will be very few people who are playing gambling for enjoyment or for testing their luck.

Well, the problem with many alt coins is that many are not made with the intention to be a competitor to bitcoin, after all the only way any of this new coins will have a chance is if they did everything that bitcoin did and then more, but a lot of this coins are just copycats so is very obvious that the developers of this copycat coins are just trying to cash on the fame of bitcoin.

Its just commonsense you really cant play gambling if you dont have  money since its the primary  need when you do gamble. Gambling has big risk indeed since you are risking your money  to earn money and the house edge is always win for sure.
