This is the pre-introduction, the real introduction will feature better pictures of the finished product and will have at least 7 ready made capsules ready to be sold (along with their BIP38 pass phrase in a super secret stylish way) all other capsules will be made to order with your encrypted secret key and address.

The Keyois Capsule is a tamper evident yet stylish way to keep a secret key. Only fifty (50) of these first edition capsules will be made and they will become available soon. Another fifty might get made later if people like them, we'll see about after that.

BIP38 encrypted secret key is engraved on a titanium ring and sealed into a larger ring bearing the address. This is then sealed in a water-tight and tamper evident capsule. With a fun gemstone centerpiece made of lab-created corundum, AKA ruby and sapphire.

The Keyois Capsule is a tamper evident yet stylish way to keep a secret key. Only fifty (50) of these first edition capsules will be made but they will become available soon, another fifty might get made later if people like them.

Benefits over a conventional paper cold storage wallet include:



 * much more fire proof (my R&D team tells me igniting titanium is more difficult than they anticipated )

 * rot proof (until we get alien fungus from space)

 * made of corrosion/rust resistant materials (the secret key and address are engraved on Titanium rings and sealed in an air-tight capsule made of borosilicate glass and 6061 Aluminium)

 * key pair is kept in water tight space

 * shinny and all awesome looking

 * ruby, sapphire, or glowing vial inside looks extra cool

 * can survive both being shot from a potato cannon, and being hit by a potato from one

 * can survive being boiled in custard and baked into a pie

 * tamper evident. This is a crypto/ bitcoin piggy bank, you can fund it from the outside but you have to break it apart to get the juicy funds inside

At current rate you can order one of these for 0.1947 btc, I am sorry it costs so much but it wasn't cheap to make. I will need a phone number in addition to an address for anyone outside the USA.

I am not transmitting you any money, I am engraving your key for you and putting it in this cool thing.    
You have to supply me with you bitcoin address and BIP38 encrypted key, you also have to promise you understand what you are doing and that you made a good pass phrase.    
These are not for beginners, if you don't understand how and why to make a strong BIP38 encrypted pass phrase then these are not for you.

There are 4 total [powder coated black end pieces](http://imgur.com/1Lvr59J), there is also the possibility to powder coat more pieces however there are some logistical difficulties in that so I would need at least ten people who want the same color or someone willing to pay a lot more for colored caps.

For added security, I recommend you add a dab of glitter nail polish over the drilled out screw heads and take a high resolution photograph; you can use that for a comparison in the future if you ever fear an elaborate scheme has taken place to drill out your capsule, break apart your rings, and replace it all without your knowledge.

These items themselves are not numbered, in fact I purposely made them nice and smooth without any words or websites printed on them.

They aren't as prefect and blemish proof as I wanted so I am sorry if there are tiny imperfections on the item, however they should still be a pretty and useful btc piggy bank.


Also I have been playing with (and kind of scratching) 13 or the available 50. Two of those are the black powder coated capsules (with some imperfections). These scratched capsules (the ones used in the pictures) I will sell for a slight discount.

The concept is rather very interesting and something unusual for this sub-board. Although with a price point of 0.1947 btc and so many combinations, I will find it very difficult to decide which one I want! Are these going to be numbered?

This project would have been DOA if you have made the private keys your self.
Utilizing BIP38 makes it perfectly safe for the buyer.
Unfortunately that that would also kill the 2nd market, but that is ok, since people need safe long time storage for their keys, so perhaps these don't need a 2nd market.

I think this product have a lot of development potential, basically for each new version; make it even more nuke-proff.
I have always said that a block of tungsten is the best cold-storage you will ever get, but it is very inconvenient this product could
hit the niche between a regular storage and a tungsten block.

Like already stated, not sure if its a collectible, but I have no problem with the thread being in this section, since the target group would properly,
be more or less the same that is interested in physical coins.

You can make your product extra attractive with some demos on how much punishment the device can take.

Alas I am okay with a diminished second market, it's the only way to get what I want and to give others security. I suppose I can make some unencrypted secret keys but who would buy them?

Part of the reason these aren't ready is because I want more time to make the inside rings look better so hopefully they will be a bit better by launch, though they still won't be as good as I wanted them, I also wanted engraved silver or something but no luck so far, it turns out engraving the outside of a ring requires a tool few have


There are a few variations you can have if you like but for the most part they will be the polished shinny Al ends with either a ruby or sapphire (lab created but chemically identical to ground gems) centerpieces.

In my opinion, it looks great in the attached picture and I consider its design a kind of unique in its market. I definitely am interested in ordering one in the future so I am adding your thread to my list. According to the description, it is pretty safe too but I will look forward to reading some feedback about that before the actual order.

No, at least not where anyone can see it, though the packages should be. I don't like some of the engravings/words on other physical btcs so I opted away from it.

The only way I can see it being a 'collectable' is like a used casasius coin, or perhaps one of the few that I sell premade, the BIP38 encryption key will be sealed in a fun way too and perhaps the both together could be sold? But I hold out no hope on this.

I am working the get the engraved center 'rings' made of some other material such as tungsten; it may even be possible to have options but we'll wait and see what works.

It is very similar in theory to a stamped metal block, with the bonus of being tamper evident and small. It doesn't weight a whole lot, I opted for Al instead of SS because I am afraid of rust and like the idea of buried treasure. I was inspired by the kilara coin and the lack of what I wanted (more or less this)

Will you create some demos in spite of your doubts? I could appreciate some demos where the item faces real challenge and maybe gets damaged too. I think, demos where the Keyois Capsule survives the methods with full health will be great to attract potential customers to it, but the future users who are about to buy your item may want to know what methods mean real challenges to the capsule and when it gets damaged, what kind and how much damage it can take before turning into unusable.
