If I get this right: You start mining BTE to get BTE and at some point you'll actually earn some BTE. Then you've got Bytecoins in your wallet and can't buy anything, 'cause no one's accepting this "alternate currency"?

Exactly. The same was with BTC.

It would be so hilarious if this was made as nothing but an april fools troll coin but ended up being a serious bitcoin alternative =P

+1 I thought this was the ultimate troll, so many fools falling for it and criticizing with rage, then people go forward with it and actually do it. This is awesome. I want to mine.

Where's the novelty here? Isn't litecoin the "CPU alternative" to bitcoin?

No novelty. We just launched one more train for early adopters. At the moment everyone is enjoying the trip.

fun... Wanna win a block. No chance in litecoin or bitcoin, and joining pools with my hash rate doesn't get me much. Purely for the fun of winning a block on bytecoin.

Maybe it's ironic to be saying this with the multitude of failed cryptocurrencies that already exist, but isn't creating more and more currencies just going to discredit the crytocurrency movement more?
It boils down to a business owner who is about 10% informed about the movement deciding not to accept any of it because even the people in the movement can't decide which currency the world-at-large should accept.
