Russia has always been one of the most hostile regimes towards Bitcoin. There were drafts proposing to criminalize the use of Bitcoin with a penalty of up to 3-5M Russian rubles (over $50,000) or even with a term in prison. But just a few days ago the last such proposal was scrapped, and it seems that the authorities are no longer trying to turn Bitcoin users into criminals.
In July the Russian Ministry of Finance had stated that it intended to allow citizens to buy cryptocurrency for the purpose of reselling, exchanging, and using beyond Russia. At the same time, the same proposal suggested banning Bitcoin mining since it was considered as issuance of currency. And just a month later Alexei Moiseyev, Russia’s deputy minister of finance says that the ministry (which has long tried to pass a bill to ban digital currencies altogether) denounces any direct ban of Bitcoin.
So it looks like the last unassailable fortress standing between Bitcoin and its universal recognition across the world is about to collapse
Good news for all of us who are into bitcoin trading but, ANY source ( link) to backup this. Thanks Bitcseo

Can mining rewards really be considered as an "issuance of currency"? If it is issued then there should be an issuer. The problem with is they cannot point who exactly. So if someone in Russia still decides to mine bitcoin or any other POW coin for that matter then which "issuer" are they going to imprison? The laws prohibiting the issuance of foreign currencies mainly refer to the fact that such an issuance would essentially be an instance of counterfeiting that currency. Obviously, this can hardly be related to Bitcoin, but allowing Bitcoin mining and accepting it as a foreign currency would require changing way too many laws. So the easiest path to take seems to officially ban Bitcoin mining completely... Since no one is going to take this into account anyway

Always thought that Russia have hated free enterprise and bitcoin to me is just that. Anyone can be a millionaire with it and since they don't have control of that they would like to abolish it.

they must have stolen enough Bitcoin now it seems they own enough to make it legal, they must have also
build up a few decent mining rigs,
Well, you confirm my suspicions that FBI, CIA, NSA, and whatever fucking agencies might be there that I've never heard about before are in fact tea-boys at the beck and call of the Russian FSB (former KGB)... Is that you on the avatar? I know that I asked this before but didn't see you answer

I think there worry is mainly the fact that BTC is an open exchange with rubles with USD and other currencies indirectly through the exchange since these determine the price of USD, good move from their side though because it's just a waste of time to put restrictions on Crypto's IMO.

Dunno what you're intent, but certainly that the price of something that's not a bitcoin adverse us when bitcoin has decreased prices. Because the bitcoin is a digital currency that already have a very strong foundation, so the price drop happens will not get bad effects

Ever since russia is very active in improving their military service and in my own opinion i guess before they were trying to consider bitcoin as a treat to the country as it can be used for illegal business.

I think Russia is having a brain seizure trying to deal with Bitcoin. I remember so many news across the years of Bitcoin being banned in Russia, or Putin threatening people to put them into jail for owning Bitcoin, and then I remember a lot of news of "Ban of on Bitcoin lifted". It's like a ping pong match of banned and not banned. Russia just doesn't know how to react to Bitcoin. Pretty funny actually.

So this news can bring an increase in price now? After a long drought at $580.

That is a good news for the community of bitcoin as with that all other countries will also realize that there is no any harm in the usage of bitcoin as almost all of the major powers have allowed it in their countries.

This is good news for bitcoin. Anytime a major country outlaws bitcoin or even over-regulates bitcoin, it makes it appear that bitcoin is "bad". Any move in the other direction is positive for the future of bitcoin.

So I guess the Russian Ministry of Finance and other Russian powers that be are happy with the amount of bitcoin they've accumulated thus far, so now say it's cool if other Russians acquire and use it.

This is probably the truest statement so far, I have a feeling Russia has whatever they want from Bitcoin and now they'll allow it to keep themselves out of hot water. I don't know why they'd want to buy in though, Russia doesn't seem like a country that would take such a risk to be honest.

Russia do like power, bitcoin can give them the feeling to has power over something international, who can say if they havent build a miner and a big miner active there? One thing i know when i check some faucets the most of their traffics cames from Russia, soo they are a big part of bitcoin community, and maybe the big community under bitcoin, maybe Nakamoto were russian.

Maybe russian mafia makes part of their payments with bitcoins now. Since they have a big influence on russian government it was in their interest to legalize bitcoins there. Now they can cover their business better bcause the payment system is now legal as well.
