Is Gambling addiction a disease?

I cannot control my emotions in gambling games many times, and I feel that it is very hard without practicing every day. But I believe that one day, I will be able to control the emotions so I can play gambling without having emotion inside the games. I already read that if we can control emotion, we could enjoy the game and having fun playing the game.
Maybe it is a disease for some people, but I won't say that it is a disease, and for sure, gambling will make your life ruin and lose everything you have.

Gambling is bad for you, but since you are willing to learn on how to control your emotion, just a friendly advise, don't gamble with a huge amount of money.

If you can afford it, then why not right? I mean there are a lot of gambler, rich gamblers that also won a lot of money already. It is not a problem for people if you can afford it. Though even if you can afford it, doesn't mean that you will abuse that.

no, it's not actually a disease as it has a different definition and according from what I read Gambling Addiction is another form of mental disorder as you cannot control your emotion whenever you are dealing with in whenever you are winning or losing. and it is almost similar with drug addiction because you will always feel like the entire day will not be complete until you take or played a game. even if the government forbid gambling they will never be able to stop people who already live their life with it.

Exactly, many have been bankrupt because of gambling addiction. Fact is that they can't also stop theirself until their is nothing left with them. Even if they are millionaire, they will be bankrupt soon. I believe the richer you are, the higher you put bet on. Because of mentality you got money, you got a bigger balls too.

Controlling how you will treat this activities, addictions take place when you are too much engaged it will pollutes your mindset and keep you wanting to play over and over again, you needed to balance what inside you and make sure to control everything inside.

Its kind of mental disease like drug addiction,yes it may not need any medicine to cue but it will definitely need mental strength to overcome addiction but it is not going to be an easy task for the people who were seriousl addicted to gambling.

like the guy above said , the medicine was some kind of a relaxation but your right that this can cause side effects that will lead to more serious health issues  . this is why i wont recomend it to anyone if they are already addicted .  its better if they will only cure them selves in a natural way such as relaxing thier minds or quitting the gambling scene for a while  .  pray and divert your thoughts to other things that will keep you busy  .  this helps alot  .

Each medicine has it good and bad side effects so that's why its your choice to research first what you are taking.

I am not anti-religion but there are some that still can't stop their addiction even if they are bound in a religion.

You though even if you go to church, to pray or worship God you will be cleansed to what you are doing wrong. He will cleanse you if he sees that you are trying your best to do so. You can't just rely on prayers and it will go, no, you should exert effort too. Gambling is a mental disorder the reason it is so hard to stop. So if you don't have the will to stop, better make a way to make the people around you help you and especially the one guiding you through these years.

I don't think there is any medicine which can help you prevent the addiction. The medicine which you are talking about are the ones which give you piece of mind or relax you in case your sleep is not fully competed etc. They cannot stop you from your addiction of gambling etc.

For me there is no need to get rid of gambling addition because it is good for us. We can get good opportunity to earn money, it does not matter how we win, but we will have to keep in mind that earning is our own responsibility, so if you are addicted to earning it is good for you don’t take it wired or wrong just play with all your passion and make sure you win.

I think you don't understand the meaning of the word "addiction". Any addiction, not only one related to gambling, is bad by definition. Below is the first definition from the Cambridge English Dictionary:

addiction definition: 1. an inability to stop doing or using something, especially something harmful

You see, an inability can't be a good thing, right? And what leads to gambling addiction is the way of thinking you just presented in your post. How can you say regarding to an activity so much depending on luck as gambling, "make sure you win"? Whether he/she is winning or losing is out of gambler's control. But what we can control is when to stop before it's too late, and that's what most gamblers do successfully. And there are others who can't control even that, and they are called addicted gamblers. It's very hard to help those people who are already addicted, but we can help those who are not addicted to stay this way.

And most of them were suffering from other mental issues, such as depression and anxiety. For them, gambling is a medium to escape from that condition.

If you  can't afford to gamble then don't try your luck might it will lead you to a disaster and make your life miserable. Even if you're rich you're not exception in losing your money in gambling.

Even mentally strong people may face difficulty in quitting. We need to admit that greed is a basic human character. No, because it won't kill people just like drugs. At least, not directly. And gambling is easier to stop, not like drug addiction who needs a rehabilitation to stop it.

I disagree, gambling can kill the gambler, example if the gambler is so addicted that they will stay at the casino for days and don’t eat or anything, that alone can be deadly because the person don’t have enough rest some may result to heart attack. I know no rehabilitation for addict gamblers but I think it would be a good idea to have one as to help them control their addiction or for gamblers to have more self control.

There is no need of worrying about gambler in such an extreme level. No gamblers will be allowed to stay within the casino for days without eating or taking food. Even if there is some rehabilitation centre, nothing gonna until the user mind gets changed himself. Until then gamblers cannot be separated out of gambling and addiction.

in the beginning stage we don't realise it is a disease but once we got the addiction to the end of its situation when we can realise it will not give any normal mindset for you and it will really go with like disease that's why addiction is ended up with the disease.

There seems to be no gambling addict who realizes he is a gambling addict, because they feel it is his lifestyle or a normal habit that they always do every day and I think gambling addicts are different from drug addicts, because even though you are an addict but you have good control in gambling then it will not damage yourself or your health, if drug addicts even though they have control somehow, but with drugs that continue to be consumed will be dangerous for your health.
