Is Gambling addiction a disease?

I am not really a gambler but I heard about people who can't quit it and keep losing lots of money. Do you think the attitude to gambling addiction should be the same as to drug addiction?
Should the government forbid gambling and treat somehow those who are addicted?
Or maybe it should be left up to an adult? I mean, should people decide on their own whether they need to gamble or not.

in the beginning stage we don't realise it is a disease but once we got the addiction to the end of its situation when we can realise it will not give any normal mindset for you and it will really go with like disease that's why addiction is ended up with the disease.

Yeah, exactly, when we are in starting, we can't realize gambling make us addicted or it is like a disease for us. Gambling is disease for those people who have become addicted from it, then definitely gambling is disease for them.
But i don't think government can do more for them. Actually, in many countries gambling is ban but still people play it with unseen ways. So it is not government fault, it is fault of us, then we can't control ourself from bad disease.

For me gambling is considered disease because you cant control yourself anymore and you need help to be able to overcome that addiction. also it can ruin your life and your relationship to your family if you dont pay attention.

I agree in your opinion, because if you are addicted you will not immediately remove a gambling addiction in yourself. Its been a long time before you will recover for being addicted. Drug addiction is like a disease that anyone its difficult to get out on this kind of activity. It's a disease because if you do not help yourself to prevent it, you will become worse.

There is a similarity between a drug addict and a gambling addict, but both are treatable in fact gambling is easily curable than drug addition, you just need the full support of your family.

the government is making huge revenue from gambling and they promote it as an entertainment, just take a look at how they promote Las Vegas I don't think they are going to stop, it's one cash cow you would not want to kill, the government can treat gamblers some countries have free facility on this.

Gambling addiction is not a disease for those who are doing it normally and controllably but is a mental disease for those who are addicted to it all the time whether they are losing it or winning it they are addicted regardless of this factor. However, sitting all the time also causes physical disabilities and can extend to a disease if care has not been taken on time therefore it should be dealing normally.

Yes, it really depends on the gambler, but if we look at the attitude or behavior of a gambling addict we can say it is a mental disease because it’s all in the mind. It’s not like something or a virus that went inside you body as most diseases but it’s the gambler’s mind who is not thinking correctly and not doing what is suppose to be right. Yes, most of the people will not consider gambling as a disease, in the beginning, once they start losing more money they will understand Gambling is an addiction and it can easily convert them into diseases which we cannot able to control our emotions.

Medically this is true. Any type of addiction is disease in some way. Many can be treated many dont want to be treated. That leaves only to speculate and to suggest that people need to consider for any of there thing and if necessary to seek help.

I myself am still confused in that addiction whether pure can be blamed. especially for gambling addiction, in gambling addiction it is certainly not good for each person. Because, when we don't have money to play. Can it be forced to keep playing. This is what later causes us to sell what we have in order to be able to play gambling. Of course the addiction must be removed as soon as possible.
