i want to build 4gpu mining rig with Rx470
im confused to choose both of them,
hashrate is same, mod bios at 28mhs (eth) +300mhs (sia)
refference cheaperthan custom (nitro/red devil) reff : 0.3375 red devil 0.35375 nitro :0.36
for faster ROI reff. is the best. the temp, will be high because the fan only 1
in future if i want to upgrade the gpu red edvil and nitro is the best, because it's easy to re-sell it, not like reff version.

so anyone can help me ?

Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

I would go for NON-reference versions, i have some reference and they run HOT.

Would you mind sharing your custom ROM ?

TERRIBLE advice. The SECOND distributors get the green light to produce non-ref cards, they cut every corner possible, then charge you for the privilege of buying a cheaper card. Ever wonder why reference 480s always have Samsung memory? Because it's the best. You go non-ref - MOST of the time you get Elpida or SK Hynix... or worse, Micron. Rarely you'll get Samsung. Additionally, the cooling... fuck it - time for a little show and tell:

https://ottrbutt.com/GPUs/470RefStyleBoard2.jpg (NSFW) -- This, is a 470 reference STYLE 470 (AMD did not specify a ref for 470, only 480, but it works for this demonstration.)
https://ottrbutt.com/GPUs/480XFXNonRefStyleBoard.jpg (NSFW) -- And this, is a 480 - non-reference - made by XFX. Notice what's NOT connected to the heatsink? Oh, well, lucky the GDDR5 chips aren't important.

Moral is: Look for the silkscreened AMD + logo near the PCI-E connector, and for 470, go for the ones with the blower fan.

Happy to see your response, i really appreciate it.

As i said reference 480 run HOT and looking around it seems that custom cooler are better than the reference one. Do you agree ?

I dont know if I agree that the amd 480 reference run "HOT".

My 2 AMD 480s in my gaming PC run at 74 C with GPU 0 at 55% fan and GPU 1 at 67%.

Of course, I could be mistaken and maybe 74 is really hot for those cards, but I am pretty sure they can run at 85+ sustained.... Please enlighten me if I am wrong.

[..] and for 470, go for the ones with the blower fan.

If they had 3 years warranty i would buy them without hesitation, but all ref 470 4gb i've seen are 2 years warranty models.

I agree that the core is probably hotter, yes - but it's VERY important more than the core and VRMs are cooled. With mining Eth or XMR, you're hammering that GDDR5 full time - you can't expect it to perform well with no heatsink.

So, do I agree that the core may run hotter with ref? Yes. Do I think custom coolers are always better? No.

+1. Everyone tends to consider just the temperature of the vga chip, forgetting about vrm and gddr5 readings. I can confirm that usually the amd reference heatsinks and pcb's are the best solutions, in terms of key-elements dissipation. Surely the custom coolers tend to be more efficient regarding the core, but usually there are giant issues about the other components, also because of these heatsink designs are just adapted from different generations of chips and same-gen variants. Have a look at the terrible heatsinks from asus, in the direct cu2 variants, especially since the 79xx vgas. There are 3 slot models that are practically worthless, with vrm temperatures so high that the vga goes in thermal protection, forcing you very soon to open an rma procedure.
