What's so special about this card that someone should pay twice the retail price?

Is it gold plated? Why 2x the retail price. I can get 2 cards any day of the week for $1500.

I could buy two Asus Ares cards for that price, No one is going to pay twice the retail price on these forums. You would be lucky to get 1k on amazon too.

Cool, someone trying to sell something for bitcoins. Wish I saw more of this. Sounds like the price is too high for most, but hey, that's what's exciting about a marketplace. Ability to try out ideas without 5 years of paperwork first.

If you drop your price to $600 USD or 20 BTC, I'll take it right away. Send me PM or find me in IRC under TheShoura, do not trade until GPG auth, of course

do a search on newegg.com and every single one of them if sold out. so is everywhere else, so he can certainly charge whatever for it. now would he be able to sell it to anyone at that price that's another question lol. but $800-$1000 is considered a good below market price.

I've found quite a few places which still have them in stock from pricewatch. And at reasonable prices, too.

yeap, and atleast here in Finland if you are able to wait couple weeks, stock is of 0 issue. They will get it to you, even if it takes 10 weeks, at the price quoted. Even if that price is wayyy under market.
