Sometimes depend on mobo. asrock pro btc require no powered  riser.

We use h81. Don't know about h61, even they should be similar.

Go with the power risers. Most of the motherboards "prefer" the usb powered risers.

Another advantage: you have a longer cable with the usb powered risers => your gpu's can stay at a lower temperature => better performances on mining.
