I stopped mining long time ago, but would like to put some of my left over cards to use ; any idea on what to mine ?

Cards are 5850's with only 1 gb of ram, so eth is a no-go. Being out of gpu mining scene for ages, i would appreciate some advices.
btw i dont plan to buy asics, i just want to use my old gpu's.

thanks

You *might* be able to mine XMR, but I'm not sure about the hashrate. I have two 5850s in my room, might try them out.

I don't think so that you'll be able to mine any coin with any profit with those old 1 GB graphics cards, until and unless you have extremely cheap electricity. All you can do is give Monero a try though, and see how the mining goes with those cards.

I am interested to see the results.

Profit is not really the winning factor here, i know it's small. The point is to put cards to use , and maybe save coins mined as investment. 4x5850's should mine atleast something in a month or so..

Compute heavy blake variants are worth a try. Also helps if you anyway need heating during coming months.

Another issue is the software, most options I tried a little while back would work for my 4870.

So my spare 4870 sitting here in an old PC that I would love to put to use mining something, I'm just not sure how!

will check it out.

worth taking a look, but can someone verify this? When i search it looks as if 5850 makes ~200 H, and when i check it on https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/xmr
it claims that 4x200H (800 H) = ~ only ~2$ a day..

Regardless, it's the most interesting option to take, so i'll start with that.

Thanks for the responses so far!

Id also like to confirm this. I still have some 5850's laying around somewhere that could be put to use if they are profitable.... I just have a hard time believing they are.

I think the easiest way to determine a profit on old card is download NiceHash Miner:
https://github.com/nicehash/NiceHashMiner/releases
and test card on different algorithms.

Got 250 hashes/s with my test card and latest drivers. But the profit isnt as nearly as i imagined, but atleast they wont be picking up more dust laying around when i plug them
all back in Smiley

Looking to pump up hashes with different setting now..
