I think that hardware mining is the better choice because first of all there are a lot of ponzi schemes out there that pose as cloud mining companies and you can't really tell whether it's legit or not, and also you can sell your hardware and get some principal back after you're done mining.

Even hardware mining right now is not as good as it was. Especially if you do live in a country which the electricity bill is  quite high and the maintenance of your device is really not that easy that is why cloud mining is build. Actually the idea of cloud mining is really good but you are right that instead it was being used on trolling peoples mind out.

Miners would really not tend to expose themselves because the threat of  being imposed taxes by government and surely profits would be reduced. You really should do some research on the forum. There are threads with lists of closed cloud mining sites and the lists are extensive.

NO, cloud mining is not safe to use. You are sending money to a private company, that usually is not what they claim. The most common issues are:
-CM company never mines and is just a domain with a btc address
-CM is mining, but for themselves. You don't know how much miners they have, what they are mining and how much they are earning. You are getting paid scraps.
-CM looks legit at first, they seem to be mining and paying out a lot, but after a couple months they disappear with your money.

What is it that you don't understand?
The idea behind CM is that you buy a share, which could be a full standalone miner and someone hosts it for you in his big mine. You pay for the hardware, he pays for the space, power and cooling and you share the profits. In reality companies are abusing the system and hiding their real profits to limit the payments and extend the payback period. Sometimes they don't even buy the hardware and run once enough people buy the contracts.

Yeah, both the types of bitcoin mining in general are not really that profitable anymore and it is not getting any easier by the time since the prices are going off, so even if you have free electricity the hardware you buy for the mining is expensive and you won’t be able to start really profiting from it until a year of constant mining, and that applies to cloud mining as well.

Any investment is like that. No difference or anything. All of your money goes to capital like machinery, raw materials, etc. I'm talking about investment/franchise in general. At first, you can't earn anything at all since you're still growing back your capital. But once you're done with that phase, all of the preceding income would be profit. The only thing that you would have expenses to are electricity and maintenance.

If you have "free" electricity (which I doubt) then you'll get your capital back in a much shorter time than those that pays huge electric bills. I think mining is still profitable if you have decent capital. Otherwise, you should just look for a part time job since it would pay much higher, although the earnings wouldn't be a passive one.

Then hardware mining is fine way make bitcoin income preferably you could go with solar miners or antminer. Solar will reduce you electricity charges more than all the other type of miners.

Scam cloud mining sites usually offer ROI for 3-6 months depending on the website. While seemingly legit cloud mining sites would take more than a year before you ROI (again, depending on the website).

Cloud mining site would be better than hardware mining to those people that (a.) can't afford a mining rig, (b.) don't have a place for a mining farm, (c.) high electric bills. We all know that you need to have a decent mining rig to have some actual earnings from hardware mining. Otherwise, it would take time before you can ROI or get bored and end up just selling the rig for a lower price.

Supposed that there's an actual legit cloud mining site, one would think that it's much better to invest there since he can simply get a part or a percentage of the total mining power of someone that has a decent mining rig.

You have just a little cash, but you have an empty building, that could fit a lot of miners. What do you do?
Offer contracts to cover the cost of hardware.
Buy hardware and start mining, pay investors 50% of the profits, blame it on the maintenance fees.
Pay them back some of their money and then reduce payments to scrap, blame it on the increasing difficulty.
Sell the hardware.

It still surprises me how one can even compare the two with what we have and seeing today. Its like comparing USA in terms of the advancement in technology and one Third world country. Cloud mining has never prove us  wrong in two ways;

1. Majority of these sites are scams and they will remain so.

2. The few ones not scamming just forget about getting any return because it wont happen or you will have to wait forever.
