First, you need to create their btc wallet before sending them some part of yours. The smallest amount i think is 13000 satoshi.
Tell them that bitcoin is reliable and it has many use in this world. It can also help them to pay for their needs.
Teach them also how to use bitcoins and better ways to make it plenty hehe or how to invest it in many ways.

If you're asking like a philosophical or a philanthropic question, I would say teach them what Bitcoin is. What it can do, it can buy, etc. Thos kinds of things. Go over to the basics and show them the benefits and limitations of the cryptocurrency.

I would suggest that you create online wallets for them with either Coinbase or Blockchain. From experience, explaining to non-techie people how Bitcoin works and asking them to download a special software to receive the Bitcoin is just too complicated. With an online account, they won't need to wait for the Blockchain to download every time, you just need to show them how to send and receive Bitcoin from their wallet and that's it.
I'm not sure what the smallest amount you can send from Coinbase but I imagine it would have to be 30k sats (around 20c) or above. Also, you don't pay any transaction fees when you send from your Coinbase wallet

 I use blockchain, but it needs fee to send bitcoin. I'm not sure how much the smallest amount we can send by blockchain.

if you want to give bitcoin to someone close to you like a relative it is best to set up a wallet for them in front of them to teach them how everything is done live.
i did that with Electrum and for one of my friends and gave him 1-2 USD worth of bitcoin to teach him how it works.

I guess generating few addresses through bitaddress for example and then printing the QR of private key and putting it in an envelope would be a decent way, The smallest sensible amount that would encourage the one receiving it to look it up would be 0.01 - 0.02 BTC IMO.

All members  here are saying the same thing  or suggesting  the same thing . In my own  opinion  you could either  tell them to make a web wallet  for you to able   to pass bitcoin to them  or  you give them a paper wallet which is  good to show  about bitcoins  usefulness and  opportunities on your  family members.

Just make a new wallet using blockchain and send it to them through email, Blockchain being the easiest possible wallet to use and would save them the import private key difficulty, They might not learn enough about it though.

The easiest way to give a small amount would be to ask them to download a wallet themselves and you send it to them. Putting 10000 satoshi on a paper wallet then sending that to another address would just diminish the already tiny amount you would be giving them

0.1 amount  would be good though, if your family is rich then  you must  introduce them  or give them only a small amount They wont matter   if you would give them small amounts  or  bigger . As long you introduce  to them  what is bitcoin and  its  uses. It would be still a good thing.

In terms of BTC, I think you should gift them no less than BTC0.10. 1 tenth of a bitcoin is small, but enough to make people understand they have a fair portion of a full coin. If you give them something less it will feel insignificant. People using fiat aren't familiar working with or realizing the value of less than a tenth of basic denomination, e.g., no one sees value in having 7 cents, but a dime or more is something.

Now the challenge is that a tenth of a bitcoin is roughly $60 right now, not a cheap gift! But you could wow them with the amount of things they can buy with just a tenth of a bitcoin.

Giving away 10% of one bitcoin is quiet a lot for most people. About 64 dollars at the moment.
For most people I do not spend that much for christmas.
A bitcoin advertisement in such a high range just for one person does not seem to be appropriate to me. Even if it's for family.

If you were a non-techie person who's never heard of Bitcoin and someone gives you a piece of paper worth ~ $0.7 along with a complicated set of instructions on how to convert your small treasure to dollars, would you really take the time to go through the process? I think most people would just forget the piece of paper in a pocket somewhere. However if you create an account for them and send them at least $10 worth, I think they'd be more likely to try to learn about Bitcoin.

For the oldest members of your family you can give them a paperwallet, but for the youngest you can download a mobile wallet & make the transfer instant, its way more facinating than hand them a paper with btc.. and some strange numbers!
