Paper wallets you can print yourself, loaded physical coins you can buy and even at a premium paper wallets. Of course the safest and most secure way is to do yourself quite easily.

IIRC, They was a service through which you could send bitcoins to an email address.

Just note that its very insecure to use such services but it might be OK for your purpose as long as you can afford to loose what you send.

I want to give the smallest practical amount of BTC to friends and family to introduce them to it.
What is the best way to do this?
What are the smallest amounts that can be sensibly transferred?
Thank you.
In my experience, i gave my friends some bitcoin about 1 dollars each person to top up their phone and also to introduce bitcoin to them, and guess what they are interested since they don't need to go outside for purchase it, it's really simple just in  single click , however when i talk bitcoin to them for the first time they weren't aware and interest, by giving away i think this is good way to teach them how bitcoin is work. Anyway they used blockchain.info

This depends on your motivation. Are you going to use this btc as a source to make them know what is bitcoins and how this should be earned? Then its just enough to show them your money being in your wallet. And tell them how the transaction happens. Explain them the ways to earn money and the basic requirements to start posting and joining in a signature campaign. I think this is more than enough.

Your generosity should tell you. If you have more bitcoins and you friend is very close then give him around 2 to 3 dollars. Open a wallet in his id. Transfer the bitcoins to his BTC address. Tell him how you earned this amount. Teach him about bitcoins and its benefits. I am sure he should be convinced by all these acts if he is really interested.

Get your friends and family with smart phones to download Breadwallet or Mycelium and send it there

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the world, and lose his own soul?

it is not such an difficut job you can just give them your wallet id and address or just open a separate wallet for them and then you can transfer some bitcoin to that  id and then the password to them. through this way you can really introduce bitcoin to them.

Thats a good idea and i think you can also tell them that they can exchange bitcoin into money.. so that they know that bitcoins is money and i think it is better to use bitcoin to buy online shopping that they can buy anything they want..

Well first you can make them their own bitcoin wallet and just sit in the room with them and send them all that small amount, they;ll be surprised when they all recieve it at the same time. Smiley

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

Originally I was thinking that printing out a paper wallet would be the way to go, it's safe, just don't keep a copy of the private key or you'll end up in hot water - If you buy a reasonable BTC 0.01 (about $ 6.50 at the moment) they can put it in a safe place like a family bible or the high school year book, something they keep safe, but don't look at all the time.  They can then come across the paper wallet in multi years time and see how much the value has appreciated in those intermediate years.

But then I also thought that you could install a BitCoin Wallet that doesn't download the entire block chain, this way they can experiment with sending each other (I presume you're going to give out to the parents, siblings, children Aunts & Uncles and or cousins all at the one time) the BitCoins.  You can walk them through the receiving their first BitCoins, then guide them through sending each other coins one afternoon at a family gathering.

Then when they've played with BTC 0.01 for a while drop a hefty BTC 0.1 (or more!) into their wallets each and see their beaming smiles when they realise how much you've just given them.

That's a cool way of introducing bitcoin to the friends and family members around you. Once they receive it, you can clearly identify who else is interested to know more. This helps you to help the right person to be a part of the advancement of digital currency network as well earn good amount.

Your problem has an easy solution because many are willing to help you especially when you will give BTC to those who help you on how to give BTC. It is very simple, just create a wallet and then transfer to another's wallet address, that is what you call you start transacting.

Its up to you. I would suggest you the following. Its just enough to show them your money being in your wallet. And tell them how the transaction happens. Explain them the ways to earn money and the basic requirements to start posting and joining in a signature campaign. I think this is more than enough.

They  wouldnt still engage on  signature campaigns  if  they  dont  know  what  is  bitcoin after all, their interest would  really fade  up  . The  most important thing that you must  introduce to them  on  what  is bitcoin then  try   to make them a wallet  and show  regarding on transfering  funds  in  one  wallet into another.

I don't think there are many technology enthusiasts left in the world that haven't heard of Bitcoin by now. If he has to 'introduce' them to Bitcoin, chances are they're regular non-techie, 9 to 5 people and if that's the case, it is highly unlikely they will want to earn Bitcoin by posting on the forum here. If you just show them how Bitcoin works and how to earn it, they'll probably listen politely and then forget all about it the moment you leave  Cheesy

Why would you transfer the smallest amount possible? Its useless and it will only end up paying unnecesary fees, I would recommend to just gift them around 0.005 so you don't get broke paying fees, but still giving a reasonable amount?
