...

We have said for months now that Nxt is NOT being abandoned.
We have been active for years now working on it and the Nxt Foundation is working very hard on getting business onto the platform.

There is no movement to have Nxt replaced by Ardor. Both will exist side by side.

TL;DR: NO

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

No, Ardor is a complete new blockchain. It's like a "mother chain" where all other child chains keep their transaction hashes for consensus.
Ignis will be the first child chain for Ardor, with all the features that Nxt has now.

But Nxt will continue to exist, the core devs committed to keep support of Nxt up!

FYI, newcomers!
Did you know you can mine NXT (and buy Ardor with it on the Nxt Asset Exchange!) in the Lucky node project?
Computational and bandwidth requirements are very low - some users run it on a Raspberry Pi.
Run the node 24/7 or as often as you can while you work or play.
Join in with the over 100 nodes that are already in the project.
