Been down for hours now. Anyone have any news on what is wrong and when it might be coming back up?

It's perhaps overloaded.  The value of namecoins took quite a jump today.

Wonder if someone just took the money and ran. No mention of the outage or the reason in the forums makes it look a bit suspicious. That was a hell of a lot of bitcoins that went through the exchange today.

May be it was overloaded or they are making update.
I've heard that namecoin will be 1:1 with bitcoin.

No notice. Quite sad.

The site owner just posted a message on the site. It's down and unable to be started remotely.

A quote of the message:
Quote
2013-04-03: The machine hosting the bitparking namecoin exchange has gone down and I was not able to successfully bring it up remotely. I'm working on getting it operational again and hope to have more information about the state of it tomorrow. Email admin@bitparking.com for any queries.

Damn, why not tell a few words on how severe the problem and what estimated time of going back online is?
Should we already start worrying about our namecoins? I have just transferred a good sum there, and voila, site is down for what - three days now?

This update has been posted on the site recently
Quote
2013-04-05: It appears the namecoin exchange has suffered corruption on the drive holding the exchange data which caused the crash. I've now got a disk image of the exchange and will be working on recovering the transaction data this weekend. Once this is done I'll post a status here of what effect this will have on trades that occurred between the last backup and the crash. Once a state of the database is determined and balances of coins in the exchange wallet are recovered I'll bring up the site for withdrawals only and the exchange will cease operation.

Well, one more thing - the Bitparking exchange provided me with a namecoin address N1NEQZXCJNiaioeffwEcKT26zgTeXK7xaD I transferred my namecoins to, just before the outage.
Now, if I look at this address http://explorer.dot-bit.org/a/N1NEQZXCJNiaioeffwEcKT26zgTeXK7xaD - I see that my namecoins were then transferred again to some another address, which I do not know and didn't do.

Is this a normal part of an exchange operation, or I have to start worrying?

Can someone elaborate, please?

if you can see where the NMC went then maybe there is hope in re creating an image before the crash, the latest update is that the disk image is unavailable from 4-7-13, any good news would be good to hear

I paste the last state from the site to keep the post up-to-date.
Quote
2013-04-08: Work is still ongoing in recovering the transaction and wallet data from the exchange drive. I'll report here when I have more information. If you have data that will help identify you as the owner of an exchange account please send it to the email or bitmessage address at the bottom of the page. An address you deposited to or withdrew from and your account name, contact details and a namecoin/bitcoin address to send funds to will speed things up. Those that have already sent details I'll contact within the next couple of days all going well.

The mentioned addresses are:

Email admin@bitparking.com for queries or send a bitmessage to BM-BbgTgGa6LX3yYqwJSwdwrzysvfWjM2u6.

For new readers who get here it would be better to continue the discussion in the post where doublec (the exchange owner) has given info before: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=165153.20

This line in particular really doesn't sit well with me: "If you have data that will help identify you as the owner of an exchange account please send it to the email or bitmessage address at the bottom of the page."

What could that mean, other than the database has been compromised and we will need to prove who we are and what we did recently in order to login and get our coins again?

I emailed doublec a few days ago with the information requested and haven't heard anything yet. I'm still not in panic mode yet Tongue

So, it has been 5 days since the update here http://exchange.bitparking.com/
I've provided all the info necessary via e-mail, no answer, I asked about the progress several times via private messages on forum, no answer.

Since I can't write to his topic here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=57148.0
could anyone please ask him questions about our money there?

I see he is active on forums every day, but this silence on his part is not very cool, to say the least.

I don't want to start accusing anyone, but I think just keeping us informed would be a right thing to do.
