@Op, why this thread is self moderated?
and why people calling you alt of eng.chaks?

I'm pretty sure the thread is self moderated, because mandica didn't want accusations made against him in this thread. They should be made in another one and you should post appropriate feedback on his trustpage.

Mandica has deleted one comment from FriendlyChemist. FriendlyChemist was so "friendly" and posted the exact same on here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1678323.msg16856369#msg16856369.
He is also the one calling Mandica an alt of eng.chaks.

I'm pretty sure you get the idea behind self moderation now.

Edit:
Sent a reply back to OP about the community manager position.

Also curious - if this is going to be an ICO, what are the generated funds being allocated towards?

Many projects (most recently BASH) proposed ridiculous ICO requests with no explanation as to why the money was needed.

Cheers!
In @OP it was stated what the money was going to be used for.

Quote
This will raise funds to fully develop the anonymous peer-to-peer payment / money transfer network Spectrecash
I'm pretty sure it will also be used to pay bounties and jobs like community manager.  Wink

The reason it's moderated is that trolls like FriendlyChemist trawls the forums and get off on making baseless allegations about projects he has no knowledge of and obviously can't be bothered to read about or join the Slack for a discussion. I am on Slack every day and so are the other team members, but FriendlyChemist did not PM me or ask questions on Slack. I have no idea what eng.chaks is and what this is about. He also left me a feedback saying that he has risked 1 BTC, but I have never spoken to him before and I have never made any deals with him in any capacity anywhere, so what you have are people that lie for their own satisfaction and try to drag people down. I have been around for long enough to know how toxic this forum can be and so I think that a certain level of editorial control is sensible to weed out posts that are purely malicious. This is common practice web-wide. On most serious forums you find, there will be mods working to weed out the drivel and moderate the misbehaviour of muttonheads.

I will answer any questions and will NOT delete any criticism or observations as long as it's reasoned and not just malicious allegations. There is this weird sense among certain people on this forum that if you want to retain some editorial control over the contributions to your own project you are somehow a scammer. This is just nonsense. And, so if I choose to delete posts that are purely without merit and malicious and has nothing to do with the topic, it means nothing.

Follow the thread, follow updates on the website and join Slack if you want to discuss and give it a chance.

On the topic of the ICO funds. We have just hired a further mobile app developer to join the team and we are building what can best be described as a blockchain version of Hawala money transfer. Hawala is an ancient method of money transfer that exists outside of mainstream banking. The project will take that idea and put it into the 21st century and replace the old concept of trust with the blockchain. So, the whole overarching purpose of The Spectreproject is to provide a totally decentralised P2P mobile platform for cash transfers. No registration, no ID, no oversight and a zero knowledge chain. SDC was the perfect crypto to base this on as the crypto has a lot of the features we need. The mobile platform will be open source and will be released for anyone to use. We are not forming a commercial enterprise and will not take any profit from the app but we have an ideology that we will deliver software and a crypto, SPEC, that will be beyond censorship and control, pure P2P.

This is no mean feat and it will take some effort to make this work. We will hire team members to realise this plan and for the whole concept to work we need some serious PR and we need to get the app onto stores for people to download and use. You will be able to use this system with zero background in crypto and you do not need to know anything about crypto.

You, if you choose, will hold a share in SPEC and this will be the only cryptocurrency to be used in this system so the value appreciation will come from increased use. We believe that this is real world usage of blockchain tech. and crypto and unique today. It is also conceptually simple but solves a big problem for a lot of 'unbanked' people seeking to transfer money across borders.

As the crypto-community grows, several cryptocurrencies and wallets sprouted everywhere. Nowadays, privacy is indeed a basic but very important life requirement.
Protection, Privacy in your Pocket(s). The 3Ps I wanted for a wallet and spec have it all. With this we can say goodbye to unwanted audience(s) of the transactions we make, no more worries about having to look for encashment options that sometimes lead to scams and errors. And like a real physical wallet, with spec's mobile app, accessible from our pockets. Cant wait to use this.

OP, since SPEC is an anonymous currency, at what markets do you plan to deploy the currency and how do you plan to do it? My first guess would be making it useful and market it to darknet market place merchants into accepting the coin as payment since it has anonymous features.

You guys realize that the SPEC ticker had already been used, right? SpecCoin. Probably dead now, but not likely that exchanges like Bittrex that previously had SPEC listed will list your coin with the same ticker, as it will create quite a bit of confusion.

I don't think there will be any confusion, there is no SPEC listed at any exchange as far as I know or on https://coinmarketcap.com/ among the 639 coins there.

We are aiming for major exchanges and we will get back to that soon. I think that Bittrex and Poloniex are interested in coins with a high volume and as SPEC has some real world usage, volume is likely so I expect SPEC to get listed after distribution. There will be more information on that later. Distribution is well over a month away.

If you read the info published so far you will see that SPEC is meant for an alternative mobile remittance app for cash transfer. Obviously, once it's out in the wild any market could list SPEC as an option.

Another shitcoin?

Thanks for the awesome and insightful contribution. But, no, no shit, just a brilliant coin with some mobile infrastructure to go with it.
So according to the OP you will be able to view your contacts on a local area map, how is this based? Say you don't want to be located or a phone that contains you as a contact is stolen and they can see where you are and know you have crypto, how is this secure? Seems like even if you don't do anything illegal and you buy something off craiglist and use contacts to meet the person and that other person gets in trouble you might have the police showing up and causing you a headache and possibly damaging your image. Not a good idea to me, gps locating is a stupid gimmick for crypto.

I think the issue here is firstly that you do not know how this system will work and secondly that it is obviously entirely voluntary if you want to use such an app to make a cash transfer. You get a flavour for what this is if you think Localbitcoins and Uber. It is a separate utility app that you can use if you choose and download from Playstore or App Store. It is separate from SPEC the currency which is a fully featured anonymous crypto with a desktop wallet. The desktop wallet for Windows and Mac or Linux obviously do not have any such features as location services. It isn't meant for Craiglist, its an app that will facilitate cash transfer, like a blockchain version of Hawala. There is no way to deduce the sender and receiver and no way to link the sender and receiver. If the police shows up at your door and grabs your computer they will not be able to see who you sent SPEC to unless you keep a record.

I hope that at least explains that there will be two pieces of software, (1) The 'normal' Spectrecoin desktop wallet for Windows, Mac and Linux much like the wallets your are used to and (2) A Spectrecoin mobile alternative remittance app for cash transfers, the only connection being that it uses SPEC as a settlement currency.

PS. Always encrypt your mobile phone if you have any personal information in it.

The best thing to do is to join us on Slack: https://slack.spectreproject.io/

We are all there, I am 'Spectreproject' and the other team members are 'jbg' and 'lulworm' so come and chat and we can answer your questions  Smiley One other team member chooses not to engage with the public.

I am the spokesperson as it where at this point in time. We believe strongly in personal choice and privacy so at this point in time, three members using a 'nickname' and one that will not be public. Judge by the code when GitHub is public.

Is it possible to add Komodo to the comparison on your website because from what I understood they are both a fork from ShadowCash so I can't see the difference If that's actually the case.

As far as I understand, Komodo uses parts of Zcash as a base for their anonymous transactions so I believe that it can be compared to Zcash in terms of privacy features. Someone correct me if this is not right. I have read the Komodo white paper but it doesn't really make it clear what the code base is built on but I very much doubt that it's SDC.
