I started this topic to discuss the old SilkCoin wallet and blockchain that some of us are trying to keep moving to help the folks who are late to the swap and who may still have old SilkCoin stuck in staking.

Few things about the Old Silkcoin blockchain and Silkcoin wallet - Please don't try to swap the Silkcoins received and keep it in the wallet. They worth nothing but they mean a lot
- Any amount of Silkcoins(SILK) that were staked after the new Silk(SLK) was launched cannot be swapped at Weaver
- The Silkcoin.conf file uploaded contains commands that will prevent the wallet from staking
- You can check your status in console, getstakinginfo
- Basically you shouldn't stake but if you want to, make the modifications in the conf file
- For those that want to help transfer Silkcoins, just do it in smaller amounts, never be left with 0 balance in the wallet
- Wait until you get the Silkcoins back
- One transfer a day will keep the old chain working, I hope
- keeping the wallet on for at least 1h a day will really help
For the new Silk(SLK) and Darksilk(DSLK) please check the OP on this thread

First be sure you are synchronized with the internet time Then you need to do these commands in console checkwallet
If you get errors mismatched or orphans like:
"mismatched spent coins" : 2, "amount in question" : 133.00000000, "orphan blocks found" : 3
you'll have to run the next command to fix them:
repairwallett
Wallet errors blocks the whole network so do that and you should get this
"wallet check passed" : true

Hi, my brother is having the exact same issues with the "old silkcoin wallet" as I was, but has now synced and the moment that he opened his wallet the balance which was just over 274,000 old Silkcoins changed to 224,000 old Silkcoins. The wallet has only one address BF8TEn4WrKzpCA2ra4UK1sijuzUJLZbJLj and has never had an outgoing transaction in its history. We need to find the missing 50,000 odd old Silkcoins. Please help from the devs would be appreciated.
Silkcoin address: BF8TEn4WrKzpCA2ra4UK1sijuzUJLZbJLj Total Sent (SILK) 0.00000000 Total Received (SILK) 274128.47837669 Balance (SILK) 274128.47837669 Your balance is OK It's the wallet that displays that wrong Try to follow the above post and let us know the results

Hi ttoroie, again thanks so much for your kindness with helping us and understanding our inability to rectify this without assistance such as yours, we truly appreciate you help. My brother did the repair wallet and it now shows his total amount 274 000 Silkcoins but he did 2 transfers to the weaver earlier when synced with the incorrect balance of 220 000 and now after the repair wallet he has the 274 000 but the 2 transactions sent to weaver are in red showing question to the transaction. So now we have correct amount but 2 weaver transactions in question and since the repair wallet he cannot sync.

That's OK for now click those transactions and see what's the error there or copy paste them here Anyway for now will all have to wait for the wallets to sync first will see the results later Gotta go cause I'm pretty drunk and it's 6am here Take care

Also righteousfire if you don't mind please edit or delete the posts where you attack the team in the other thread Silknetwork team is not responsible for this mess we've been through this circus as you put it long before they came They offered to help us (Silkcoin holders) by swapping the old coins 1:1 to a new improved coin that they developed So they should be praised not the other way around Thanks

Excellent guys, thanks for having followed up on my request. We should have done this long ago to avoid further confusion. Now the last step is to redirect any questions that will arise to this thread. For what's worth I no longer have any old silkcoins, i did my swap so i can't help around here

Wallet errors blocks the whole network so do that and you should get this
"wallet check passed" : true
looks like you have to do checkwallet on a regular basis. I ran it this afternoon, it didn't find anything, ran it again just now, and if found 2 mismatches. Fixed with repairwallet.

Yes, all other sites are working fine.... but before I realized it, I had already started rebooting my servers here because they all had pending restarts from windows updates.... I'll keep mine running for as long as needed as the vms are here at home, they cost me nothing to run. Just wish the chain would move, I'm still waiting for the coins I sent to confirm and also the small balance I have left confirm so I can send more out.

It took me 3 hours to post this I've also had problems getting to BTCT. I got a server overloaded error today. I was thinking about it. Don't we want the coins to mature so we can stake them? I was reading the old silkcoin ann thread. It said 12 hours to mature. So newly transacted silkcoins can only be staked after 12 hrs? therefor only useful to stake and create blocks if mature? We need wallets staking because those are creating blocks for the transactions. Correct me if i'm wrong. Just been wrapping my head around getting the transactions moving faster. I have 33k staking on the one wallet and 1,000 on another. The 1k hasn't got all the 10 confirms needed so i can stake it. The 33k hasn't made any new blocks in a while. I also ran checkwallet, and had no error's but i have a TON of orphaned blocks. Repair wallet didn't change the 300 some thing count.

What I'm trying to say is that I think you're right Bitcoinasourus about staking we should be staking instead of keep transferring them which is kinda messy like you're saying staking creates new blocks If we need a minimum amount to stake we need to find that amount and setup all wallets with that I can cover for people that don't have that amount and send you Silk(SLK) instead for them
PS: right now I'm syncing for ages and I have received amounts but have no clue who send them cause the transactions don't show on explorer yet
PS1: and this bs with connection to the forum is driving me crazy

Yes, the connection to the forum is killing me also. I'm going to setup 2 or 3 daemons tonight on separate virtual machines to see it they get any better action on the old chain. I think using your data zip, I can have them up and running late tonight. I may be wrong, but I think the 12hour maturity is for newly minted coins and require 360 confirmations. Once created and matured, the only require the 10 (?) confirmations

I am stuck at ...701 for a long time now. I have received all the coins sent, but since the chain isn't moving they are not confirmed (zero confirmations).....therefore I cannot stake them yet. We will get there, it is just a matter of time now. Also yes, the silknetwork team will honor all old silkcoin exchanges to SLK via the weaver. They have mentioned this numerous times so don't worry you will be able to swap them out once we get the old chain moving along a good pace again. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Good job all!

Because there are no confirms on it, the transaction hasn't been written to the network yet. Which is why it isn't showing the transaction on the explorer. Once you get a couple confirms you should be able to see it. Once the transaction has 10 confirms it will be confirmed on weaver's end. And considered complete. I don't think they are gone. I have a few thousand waiting on confirms to hit weaver also. I have been assured they are not lost. Once you see the transaction confirmed on the silkcoin chain SilkNet said they will handle the rest, even if your weaver account isn't showing the total there. That is why we are trying to get the old chain going again. Lots of silkcoin left in limbo if we don't, and lots of transactions waiting on confirms because of the stalled out chain ATM. McDev i'll do some more digging to find out about maturity. I thought it also counted when you transacted coins. You can still spend them but i remember some thing about them only being useful to stake after sitting in the wallet for 12 hrs.. Anyways i'll dig up some info to clear things up.

@ttoroie @McDev - I rolled back my wallet version to 1.1.1.1 it was the last version that I have, that staking worked. If i am correct we will see a few new blocks in about 10/13 hours.
Both my wallets now say stake reward in that time frame.

OK Pondi See! we'll get you there
I'll just add you as a node to the silkcoin.conf file, so keep the wallet on addnode=24.69.82.136
Also updated the Silkcoin folder up to ...702
I'll start my wallet with this line:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Silkcoin\silkcoin-qt (Original).exe" -dns -connect=24.69.82.136 -dnsseed=1
as it should put you on top of the connections if you're online
PS: silkcoin-qt (Original) is version v1.1.0.21-g32a928e cause I like the design of that

Yeah, it is a little confusing. In my post, the address I listed are addresses I set up so that if someone wants to send me coins in a tx, I'll know who to send them back to. But with the confirmations tking so long I am just finishing up setting up a couple of VMs to use to try staking small amounts of coin to see if that helps at all.

I'm using v1.1.0.21-g32a928e because during the time that I withdrew my coins from Polo and sending them to Weaver, I was staking 6 to 10 times an hour, so I'm sue staking was working on that version.

While synced, I sent my remaining coins to my weaver, I have repaired the wallet, I just keep getting screwy results. I am waiting to sync again. My wallet is an easy one maybe the devs can arrange something.

Are you still getting errors with checkwallet? Start the wallet with -rescan option: Close the wallet backup the whole folder just in case(the one in roaming) create a shortcut for the wallet open properties for the shortcut in the target line add -rescan at the end my line would be: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Silkcoin\silkcoin-qt.exe" -rescan yours could have diff path It helped me more than once on that issue but you'll have to wait a bit start the wallet from this shortcut and be patient

Unfortunately the devs have nothing to do with this, only if your coins are in the weaver the original devs are long gone
I think we need more people involved

Let's face it now: the old silkcoin has been abandoned, there has been plenty of time to do the swap. It is normal that it will not be possible for everybody to swap/recover this old coin. The same happened with bitcoin when people went looking for their lost private keys when it was too late. I think it is very late.

There has to be a point where the madness stops, but for right now, since I do have resources available on my vm hosts, it is only costing me in time spent for the effort. I'm just hoping that the effort we are expending on this saves at least one person from losing their legacy coins. I don't even want to try calculating the $$ I've lost in the past due to missing swaps with cut and dry deadline dates.

I was not saying that we should not help late comers but I am a bit disappointed about how the old silkcoin holders just forgot about their coin and then discovered they still have value. I got the silk you sent ttoroie. I'll send it back with some extra to try and build up that other wallet. Pondi, that's good your coins are starting to get confirms. We moved allot of blocks today. Obviously we need a larger balance. Or our coin age is off. I say that because this wallet hashed most of the blocks today. https://silkexplorer.silknetwork.org/address/BGR6gHRqRQr4vM6oCN6eJ7mFryHxBh7XavMy wallet with 33k is still acting funny imo. The coins are old enough to stake but the wallet still says they are not mature. McDev, how well did the linux install go? If you get it staking nice I was thinking about putting up a dedicated linux one also.

If I had a ABE explorer set up for it, I could more than likely do it. A lot easier doing it with MySQL then Mongodb, but then again I only started playing with Mongodb when I set up my first block explorer, day job is SQL centric

suddenly this thread and the work we are doing seems extra important.
McDev, i can't run an instance on my main box but i'd be willing to get some thing setup to be a dedicated node. I'll pm you when i get a min.
Still no movement from my wallets. I am closing the one for 24 hours to see how that helps the coins mature. Though i feel like the maturity issues will suss out once we get blocks moving regularly.
I have more to post but have to run. i'll get back in here tomorrow.
cheers fellas.

I wish we knew how much they have in and calling themselves investors. I wanted sooooooo badly to say something like "it takes 5+ BTC value to call yourself and investor" in the post I made a few minutes ago. I was about 75% sure they wouldn't release on the 5th. It doesn't matter to me. I only wish they would have made an announcement early in the week, It wouldn't have stopped the "I want my money back" crap but it would have squashed the claims for lack of communication.

To be honest with you, I always remove the port in my conf files. I know that in a few of my posts I did have the port included which was an oversight. I honestly don't know if it makes a difference. I know that on my daemon vms, I only open the firewall to the single port number to coin is using for p2p, in this case 16666

I think I may have broken my daemon to the point that I may need to reboot the vm after I shutdown the daemon, so it may appear to be offline for a bit, hopefully not more than 15 minutes. What happened is this;
I went back to the original ann for Silkcoin to get the specs;
Specifications Block time: 1 minute Maximum POW supply: ~45 million Difficulty retarget: every block Stake interest: 2% annually Min transaction fee: 0.0001 SC Fees are paid to miners Confirmations: 10, maturity: 350 Minimum stake age: 12 hours - No max age P2P port: 16666, RPC port: 16667
I should have looked at the original thread when we first started this. Because a transaction takes 10 confirmations and then 350 confirmations before mature for staking
Based on that, I created 25 addresses in the daemon wallet and started sending 2 Silkcoins to each address The first round of 25 worked pretty well, but I got carried away and ran it 2, 3, or 4 more times so I have 75 to 125 transactions processing through the daemon. Needless to say after finally going to bed and now waking up, the vm is and has been at 100% CPU, more than likely all night long since around 3am
I just stopped the daemon and am waiting for the process to end, then I'll reboot. I'll post when it's back online

CPU usage goes to 100% when I do a silkcoind getinfo I did manage to do a silkcoind getconnectioncoun an I'm showing 14 connections after the restart. I added txindex to my conf file and that seems to be helping as long as I am patient and don't try a getinfo for a while These are the entries in my conf file, less of course username, password, and all the addnodes
port=16666 rpcport=16667 daemon=1 server=1 listen=1 txindex=1 maxconnections=128 staking=0 stakegen=0 reservebalance=99999999

Did you turn off you inbound firewall or the firewall on the machine running the wallet / daemon? If you're saying you turned off your internet firewall, I wouldn't do that, I would just allow port 16666 in, out should already be open What block are you showing? I still show 1758735 and the explorer is showing the same, and that block is from Friday 11/4 I'm afraid to run a getinfo still but right now I have 13 connections and block 1758735 ( see below ) Also, I've seen some wallets where they show being out of sync it the time of the last block in the daemon or wallet is more than x Hours past. Most of the ones I've seen are 4 hours That may be why we think we are out of sync The issue is that we really don't have an official current block # We are going with what we think is the current block with what our wallets show when synced and the explorer at https://silkexplorer.silknetwork.org/Man I wish I had kept my explorer vm running. masterop@SC-001:~/SilkCoin$ ./silkcoind getconnectioncount 13 masterop@SC-001:~/SilkCoin$ ./silkcoind getblockcount 1758735

I think I may have broken my daemon to the point that I may need to reboot the vm after I shutdown the daemon, so it may appear to be offline for a bit, hopefully not more than 15 minutes. What happened is this;
I went back to the original ann for Silkcoin to get the specs;
Yeah mate the old Silkcoin wallet is a resource eater if I run another one on my PC it just overloads everything and the CPU get's too hot because my thermal paste is gone and the cooling sucks right now I envy you running 25 so what do we need basically? more coins, more wallets, more time....

We need coins to mature so that we can stake them. The problem is the 360 confirms to mature. We aren't making allot of blocks right now. So getting 360 confirms is taking for ever. We need an old bag holder to stake their wallet to move some blocks. If i send coins to another wallet they will take an additional 360 confirms. So i'm torn. I know more wallets staking will move blocks but we need to move blocks now. So i don't want to move a bunch of silkcoin around. Sucks man, all the dev team needs to do it stake some coins before they get burnt. Or if they changed the confirms to some thing lower for us, we could at least get the chain moving faster. even 100 or 50 confirms would get us going faster. They are busy though so i dunno. We're stuck between a rock and a hard place. The chain might literally be dead. If we don't have old coins to move the chain, ours' stuck staking won't change until they get the 360 confirms. We will be waiting for some one with a huge wallet to come on and stake.. You guys see what i'm saying? It might need more than just community support to make an "indefinite" swap possible. You can't even really relaunch under legacy silk because there is no one to do things that need to be done. How else to breath life into the blockchain?

I was afraid of this answer man That's why I was trying to find out how to send messages through the wallet I found a lot of staking addresses with loads of coins in them but I only had the public keys from two of them and you cannot send a message unless you have those keys No answer though from them yet

Do we know how many coins were lost to the mintpal hack? Looks like close to 9 million coins to me? Some are still sitting here. https://silkexplorer.silknetwork.org/address/BMj96YHgh8LysV5HFTjaDGF8CD2eJbsfcS

Yep I traced few of them back to the address you sent me I only traced those with activity like staking and transfers they moved a lot of coins we need to check every one that shows up later I'll talk to the team tomorrow once the mess is over and ask them about that Maybe someone there can help with a wallet just to stake a bit gotta go Take care man!

Don't envy me for the 25, those are 25 addresses in the same wallet. Although most of my host servers run between 15 and 25 daemons for other coins. I need to do some checking but somewhere I remember reading / hearing that if the coins move to addresses within the same wallet they do not loose their maturity. The daemon is still at 1758735 with 15 connections
masterop@SC-001:~/SilkCoin$ ./silkcoind getconnectioncount 15 masterop@SC-001:~/SilkCoin$ ./silkcoind getblockcount 1758735
I need to think on it more today and if I come up with something, I'll drop a line.

I have my coins split into about 10 inputs. They are still waiting on confirmations so until they get the 360 confirms they will not stake. Sending coins to other people does not help move the chain along. We need more stakes to get the chain moving again. Once mine are confirmed then they will move it along nicely. Just have to wait on others staking for now.

It's a bit of mess in the main thread for now lots of silent investors till now, just surfaced and want mooooney back
I wish we knew how much they have in and calling themselves investors. Yeah the delay doesn't bother me one bit since my coins are stuck, ha! I agree though, just take 5 minutes to type up a message and be done with it but whatever. Any FUD that shakes out some weak hands will only help in the long run.

The rest is still stuck staking and it's a double-edged sword because we need staking to move the network. Damn.

The one above is v1.1.0.21 I like that one cause I donated for the graphics long time ago and it kinda feels personal I uploaded it to the Silkcoin Folder, on drive right now I'm using v1.1.1.2-g32a928eBETA for the last few days tip: whenever the wallet blocks switch to the other one used to work when the chain was active, now I don't see the difference

Crypt0KeeperI knew that addy was yours it's in the white list the chain is not active since 4th of November What is the white list? Non-MintPal-Scam people? I'll have to try that trick with switching between the two wallets. Any idea why the chain isn't active? I currently only have two connections.

So what happened that it stopped? I thought the network was supported by the staking wallets? Is that not the case? At this point I am officially worried that I won't be able to get my investment out.

I've 5 connections after I opened the other version of the wallet 71.65.219.38 71.184.130.147 45.76.0.136 MCDev 24.69.82.136 Pondi 125.238.166.220
But most important
getstakinginfo should give you this result if you want to stake
{ "enabled" : true, "staking" : false, "errors" : "", ..... }
If it's false, like in your case Crypt0Keeper, you need to edit your silkcoin.conf file and edit first lines or delete them staking=0 stakegen=0 reservebalance=100000000
The conf file uploaded contained those lines to prevent the wallet from staking because there were wallets blocked on staking and people couldn't move their coins out to weaver
Now we're trying to stake to make new blocks Sorry about that, my bad

I forgot to mention, aside from maintenance ports I need, the only port I allow in is 16666 I'm going to try setting the daemon to stake but it means shutting it down briefly

I've 5 connections after I opened the other version of the wallet 71.65.219.38 71.184.130.147 45.76.0.136 MCDev 24.69.82.136 Pondi 125.238.166.220
But most important
getstakinginfo should give you this result if you want to stake
{ "enabled" : true, "staking" : false, "errors" : "", ..... }
Those lines aren't actually in there. It says I'm not staying because I have no mature coins, even though 320k are held in staking...

Did you try to put them in the conf staking=0 stakegen=0 reservebalance=100000000 restart with -rescan exit delete conf file restart with rescan

Got my daemon set for staking but it's at 100% CPU, 98.9% is silkcoind ... go figure That VM is only a single core because when testing the DNS seeders, Silk maxed out multicore vms before they got it fixed Single core VMs hover about 0.7 to 3.0% after sync
I might try upsizing this one to 8 or 16 cores for a few hours... need to see what is available as this vm is hosted outside

My luck, they are out of resources at that location. I need to bring the node down for a bit to do a snapshot so I can create another node. I'm planning on moving the wallet to the new vm, starting it up and then starting the original with an empty wallet. I'll let the new vm run until Friday evening I'll let you know when it's back up

What block are you on. The last check I made had 1758735 and matched the explorer. If that is the block you are at and the explorer still shows the same, you are synced, it's just that the wallet is looking at how old the last block is. I'm limited to what I can do right now until the new VM is online ... shouldn't be long

Sorry mate I was having fun on the main thread
Started the wallet with your new node "C:\Program Files (x86)\Silkcoin\silkcoin-qt.exe" -dns -connect=45.32.222.209 -dnsseed=1 I am now connected to both of your nodes
 [ { "addr" : "45.32.222.209", "services" : "00000001", "lastsend" : 1478578444, "lastrecv" : 1478578445, "conntime" : 1478578444, "version" : 60016, "subver" : "/Satoshi:1.1.0.21/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 1758735, "banscore" : 0 }, { "addr" : "45.76.0.136:16666", "services" : "00000001", "lastsend" : 1478578516, "lastrecv" : 1478578519, "conntime" : 1478578516, "version" : 60016, "subver" : "/Satoshi:1.1.0.21/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 1758735, "banscore" : 0 }, { "addr" : "71.65.219.38:16666", "services" : "00000001", "lastsend" : 1478578539, "lastrecv" : 1478578539, "conntime" : 1478578539, "version" : 60014, "subver" : "/Satoshi:1.0.9/", "inbound" : false, "startingheight" : 1758735, "banscore" : 0 } ]
What's the story with "inbound" : false? It used to be true

Can you do me a favor and see if 45.76.0.136 is showing for inbound? One thing I missed when letting it create the new wallet was encrypting the wallet and then unlocking it for staking. I just did that so, aside from having a new empty wallet, it is the same as it was before the clone.

None of my connections are showing inbound as true, including yours. Odd. What are the requirements to generate a new block? I thought with PoS, the individual wallet who gets the staking award can generate the block?

Went through a bunch of reboots and restarts of the new VM and the majority of the connections are now inbound true That's with an empty wallet locked and not staking going to try switching back to the original wallet and unlocking it for staking and letting it run although it will max out the vCPUs
"connections" : 13, "proxy" : "", "ip" : "45.32.222.209",

I know one way that we may get an old wallet to pop back up on the scene, in fact quite a few may pop up. When I found by pure chance the "new Silk" thread I had no idea that it even existed as I was only checking on "Silkcoin" from "coinmarketcap" link here https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/silkcoin/ and it was locked on page 211 many moons ago and every time i kept looking every couple of weeks or so, I still thought it was dead and noting happening. This link is still showing on coinmarket cap right now and how many others are like me who have no idea as they are not bitcoin forum type of people so to speak. The link to "Silkcoin old on coinmarketcap" needs to be updated to this new thread asap and we will have some stragglers stumble along for sure. I have a mate who I know has some very old mature coins from years back, but he would have to update his wallet and stuff, but he has a 100,000 odd. i will contact him tonight. Can someone change the link on coinmarketcap ?

no idea what the problem is to be honest. I checked with another coins wallet, there I have all connections with inbound:false as well, but runs without problem.
Maybe the difficulty can't go as low as it would be needed in this situation, like Qibuck coin has it right now?
Or not enough wallets with coins, for the required 10 confirmations?
I'm very happy that I just made it out 2 weeks before the chain crashed for good, but sorry for the guys left on the wrong side.

My wallet, with mature coins, has been online and set to stake since this problem started so I'm not sure what is holding everything up. It makes no sense.

I cannot help with staking until my coins are confirmed. This is quite frustrating.

No movement since. I really don't get how this is supposed to work. Are there just not enough other people staking? It's like the network forces staking rewards to take turns no matter what.

I have some staking as well, when i started staking it moved a couple blocks now it is stuck. Is this still POW mineable to generate blocks? I see a POW difficulty

Silkcoin is a PoS coin. It had a PoW period at the start. For help/info on making a swap please check you private messages.

I guess my wallet crashed or something. Disappeared from the system tray this morning. Back up now, maybe some blocks will move.

Well, I've left the wallets running way longer than I had originally planned. I had to bring them down tonight to repurpose them. Sorry, we gave it a good run. I can always set them back up at a later time if needed.

Got some more blocks moved this weekend. Released another 30k silkcoin that I can send to Weaver. Well, I've left the wallets running way longer than I had originally planned. Thanks for all your help. When I get it all free, I'll be sure to send you a tip in DRKSLK.

A few weeks ago when the silk website exchange was still available i requested to exchange 5000 SILK for SLK - Just as a test for the many more SILK i have stocked. Nothing happened and now it seems the website is gone.
Please assist me, i cannot get the old wallet to sync, either.
Most important remains the ability to exchange SILK for SLK.
