I read some replies, mainly in the Mining section that said mining was a fun hobby for them and not a thing that they could continue doing as a business. In the Project Development section I found many projects that generated profit like your local businesses.

How serious is BTC to you? Could you look at it as a foundation of business/job or is it just an exciting hobby/experiment?

I would say that Bitcoin is currently a hobby for me that takes up a chunk of my time. It is more of an exciting experiment than a foundation of business at the current moment, since I am not making or investing that much money into it, but that might change if Bitcoin's popularity continues to increase. I hope to see the cryptocurrency being more accepted by people and businesses and hope that it can become as popular or a serious alternative to cash one day.

I've always seen great potential in Bitcoins and whenever I see a Blockchain or Bitcoin based project or innovation I am excited to read about it. I feel everything that the Bitcoin core developers do also holds a lot of value for the success of Bitcoin. I don't own or run a Bitcoin based business cause of the shortage of time, but if I had to start a business I would be interested in running a Bitcoin based business. I also a lot of times question myself about the future uncertainty of Bitcoins and the markets potential, but I soon erase those thoughts by realizing that several large investors, politicians and Businesses have their faith in it and it's on its way to growing higher in value.

For me it's neither a serious thing for business nor a game. Bitcoin is specific money which increases in amount (in USD) even when you do nothing and that's quite nice about it. However, I use Bitcoin, because it is potentially profitable and because it is easier to earn money in bitcoin than in any other currency.

Agree with xdrpx in that the potential is what I really look at with bitcoin. Have become a little more disillusioned as I watch bitcoin morph into a more profit driven agenda. The sell off to government for profit drives me nuts when I see people wanting to regulate the hell out of it.
So if the potential to disrupt/work outside the system is taken away,I would venture to say it would be fleeting for me to stay involved with bitcoin. Would most likely move towards a new product that encompasses the freedom aspect.

So not in it for business and more social shifting.

I am really serious as far as technology is concerned and any profits or monetary returns are secondary for me. I never tried mining as my computer was far away from hardware requirements but still as a business I accepted bitcoin payments along with usual fiat payments. I believe in this revolutionary technology but still I am really prepared for both cases, the best one and the worst one.

since my country has hard regulations to foreign currencies, bitcoin is great tool for escape these regulations, so bitcoin is very serious in my life.I'm student and my family in the past used to have a bad economic situation, when I started with bitcoin, saw the potencial tool to change my life. Now I have a better economic situation, I can study quietly and help my family all that is possible thanks to bitcoin.

This is more of a hobby, fun thing to do for me.  I just took a huge devastating hit by betting all my coins on Hilary winning the election.  I didn't think this would happen but again, just for fun and research purposes.

I use it almost daily for online products and receiving cash. I prefer it over PayPal/Bank over 1000 times. It's just a nice currency to operate with.

bitcoin is almost my everything when it comes to finance , especially that I live in a country where literally all the popular e-wallets aren't supported
so thanks to bitcoin I'm able to invest in casinos , play poker , buy some digital goods ...etc
without bitcoin I can't move money around the internet , so I think I'm deeply committed

Money is serious business, but even more important is time. We spend loads of time... even years, to generate income to participate in this

experiment, but it is still serious and nobody wants to lose the time or the money. We have some big businesses like Overstock, Coinbase and

BitPay that invested loads of money into Bitcoin ventures and if Bitcoin fails, loads of people will lose their jobs and their income... so it's

definitely not a hobby.  Shocked

Pretty serious. Since BTC = Money.

Especially considering that most of my income from the past year has come from BTC. It's a job,
as well as an opportunity.

It also represents ease of access since I'm able to do a lot of things with BTC.

It's also a community because of bitcointalk.org , I guess that's where the hobby comes in. I learn new things and get to talk to people all across the globe. I get exposed to different beliefs, personalities, and attitudes. ^^
