"In a nutshell, the network works like a distributed timestamp server, stamping the first transaction to spend a coin. It takes advantage of the nature of information being easy to spread but hard to stifle." -- Satoshi

Wait. If you don't want to, here's how to double-spend.

IIRC, there was also something to increase the fee of an unconfirmed transaction ( can anybody link that? )

It will get confirm but will take more then 12 hrs time as the fees is low and also their is problem with blockchain confirmation due to heavy traffic in transactions

You are correct.  There are people that can help you if you are willing to pay for the service.

At least 3 of them are here on this forum.  Try contacting any of these individuals directly and see how much payment they want for their service:

I had same situation, so what I did was sending another transaction to the same address, it was small amount but with fee setup to 1$, after that both get confirmed in about 2min.

Opt-in RBF. You can replace an unconfirmed transaction with another transaction spending the same input if the original unconfirmed transaction was flagged to be replaceable. Not in OP's case.

CPFP. OP can choose to spend the output with a high transaction fee. If the miners applies the CPFP patch, miners would want to mine the entire transaction chain and get all the fees. However, the problem is that a small percentage of miners have this patch as of now.

It doesn't help.
