Are you talking about the same address pasted in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1331120.0 ?

This could be down to numerous things, it all depends on where you are when you are doing this, can you provide some more information.

Try the basics as suggested your cache and cookies and possibly your clipboard.

Could you supply us with screenshots or something? Did you find anything malicious on your device? I'd be interested to know if this is really a virus or just you making small mistakes and being overly paranoid Wink.

Mind posting the address ? This is not something new,it's known virus which uses a Crypter to bypass your firewalls and anti-virus protections. As far as I know,a few Russian dudes off darknet started giving them off for free.

This is as old as bitcoin unfortunately, there used to be dorks on HF talking about this stuff all the time. There are people who pay top dollar for this kind of coding, and unfortunately it isn't that difficult to experienced programmers. You need to be careful and verify the address every single time or you will get caught off guard by something like this.

Honestly your best bet is a fresh install of your OS and practicing better security Tongue

This is not actually new virus because its being reported and tracked already regarding on this virus which is usually been downloaded and run silently on your computer on which anytime you copy and paste a wallet address it shows different address which have been posted by jacee above. If thats the address that you are  mentioning then its really a virus.

This is a very common virus and it's possible many have already fallen for it. The hacker swaps out your bitcoin address with his.

If you're using a browser to do this, wipe cache and delete extensions to see if that was the problem. If the problem still exists, then you'll have to run a malware scan like malwarebytes, and if then it still persists, you may have to do a factory reset.

This virus is free on the black market. I think that's why it's very common to see it appear inside a file. Be careful before downloading any file. Using a good antivirus is not enough, the virus can be undetectable.

I have heard of this happening.
Maybe copy & pasting your bitcoin address is not so safe especially if you don't have somekind of security on your pc or mobile so the virus can get on it.
My suggestion would be to use those QR codes instead. You just scan the code with your webcam or your camera on your phone and you know that you are safe from this kind of thing from happening when you are copying your bitcoin address like this.

This and other things is the reason why I always double check the Bitcoin address whenever I do some transactions in my Bitcoin wallet. We never know what virus can already be lodging in our devices and they are just waiting for the proper time to attack, leaving us with disappointment and loss of money.

You can never be careful enough. It's good to have updated anti-virus on your computer or mobile and double check everything. It's very convenient to copy paste addresses but sometimes that isn't the smartest thing to do. Unfortunately new malwares are threatening every day and bitcoins are not safe from them either.

Anti-virus softwares can be easily by-passed by crypters.Read my above post.Only way to avoid the threats is to be aware of everything taking place in your presence in front of the screen.

Yeah anti virus right now is not so secured.. better to use some tools that actually that can remove all virus.. like bootcd of hirens with tools to boot it for xp mini or win 7 mini and you can full whole scan the file via command promt software by hirens.. maybe this one may help but i am not 100% sure that you can remove all viruses..  other powerful software malware bytes and search and destroy for spybots and those software that can deep scan whole file and maybe  there is someone spying you..

Make crypto as your bank.

Oh. wow. Shocked I admit this is the first time I've heard there's something like this.  Angry

Good thing I always double-triple check my addresses whenever I do transactions. I'm always too worried that I might have accidentally copied some other address or hit some extra keys.
Sometimes it's to the extent that I compare every single digit/letter.  Grin

Oh well, another thing to worry about.  Sad Sad

That's why don't just click some clickbait throughout the web for there are lot of people who are taking advantage for this. I was just thinking about this virus if this is truly real and now someone got victimized. Please provide some proof and make some screenshot for it so that we can see if that is real.

Not new, quite old actually... Some of the more advanced variants even store huge amounts of addresses so they can match up the first few characters of the address, making it look to be the correct address, at a glance.

Actually all have been said here were good and effective but talking viruses on your pc now in the modern days of computer and mobile gadgets which threatens bitcoin can be prevented by most effective antivirus worldwide. Like the ones i've been using for so long time which protected my entire pc system prevents the intruder to dominate my system even hacker is firewalled by nod32 eset antivirus which have stealth ability for you entire protection.

this kind of virus is real, i once fell for it when I'm still new in bitcoin world, good thing for me i always double check the address before i click the send button so i didn't mistakenly sent any amount to the virus creator's address.
