All coins suck completely

Whats wrong Huh

Why no future Huh

How slowly is humanity progressing if not even tech can do a little anything Huh
Because we have too many shit coins where dev's only purpose is to make money with pump and dump. And after success of eterium, lisk etc people invest in shit coins assuming they will make them rich

I dont think they intend to invest on to became rich, but the right word to be used is to gain some profits, but we cannot blame them since they believe that ICO's are better investment while in really we will get a hard time to find a potential ICO coins since their are so many shitcoins who looks good and appealing, and that should we need to take care off since ICO scams are splattered just to scam.

ICOs are just helping Maintainers to quit their job and move to the Bahamas,
i know only very few, who are using them, what they are meant to be for.
There are coins that haven't started an ICO, not because they like to stay powerless,
but because maintainers, have earned enough money in their life, BEFORE they started to engage in crypto.

Most of the shit coins you see are just copy/paste coins that some kids are pumping and hoping to earn a few bucks on unfortunate guys that invest in their scam coins. YoBit is exchange that adds a lot of that shit stuff so just don't look there if you don't really know how to differentiate them from potentially good ones or if you are new to altcoins overall.

Agree. The great majority of alt coins are just BTC clones, and some of them are even cloned from ETH, with a few only providing promising technology and good development team. If you take a good look at what's happening in crypto land right now, there have been a great number of ICOs emerging almost every day. But, it is up to debate whenever these projects may truly deliver as promised in their ICOs. That is why, if considering to invest into a new altcoin, you should first make a research about its community, development team behind it, number of premined coins, among other factors before regretting losing all your money at once.

In my case, those new altcoins that look promising, I try to invest the minimum amount possible, as if the coin then gets dumped, I wouldn't have loss to much money. Just my opinion.  Grin

Sticking with bitcoin is the best thing to do for now. And If you want to get into Alt coins, I think it is best to go with the top 10 or top 5 coins based on market capitalization.

First of all we do not need a fucking coin for each and every service some one could potentially provide over the internet. I wanna sell milk so I go and develop a freaking crypto coin for it, now I have changed my mind and now going to make ice creams, oh wait for it................
Now here you go ICC short for Ice Cream Coin and just planning to earn a few hundreds bucks each day for next 6 years, how you may ask? really easy I'd just need to first announce it and things like pools, explorer, wallets magically appear from every corner.

Second of all the gap between bitcoin and other so called digital assets with fake given value is so fucking huge, like bitcoin is in right side with $12B marketcap and all other few thousands shitcoins with $1.5B in left side, so I guess going ahead and investing in the lefties is totally cool right?

O.K. taking the risc of being over-present here: It's me again

I kind of read over this one and it didn't got out of my head, because it represents a fundamental misconception about the sense and nonsense of altcoins.

Let me assure you i am the first, who is with you when it comes to criticism about ICO and any other "funding" policy.

But when it comes to sense, let me try to explain another viewpoint.
Bitcoin has invented a way of thinking about the topology of network systems as a whole.
So its a good thing, that people are beginning, to have ideas, to build stuff and to try out all sorts of things, you could do with it.
This does not have to mean, anybody is thinking about a "better Bitcoin" or even about ANY revolution at all.
Some may think so and some/many of them may even have a misconception about their own projects, thats right,
but it doesn't matter about the fact, that this people inventing stuff with and without sense is the soul of what gives progress to humanity.
Even if you are witnessing a great bunch of insane or ridiculous shit: Its creativity at its best.

There are, despite the "shit", projects around, that are developing breath taking technologies and THIS is all what counts.
In fact, Bitcoin may profit a lot from that, because everybody will agree, that its bad a bad idea to play around like this, with bitcoin itself,
while on the other hand Bitcoin may be able to cherry-pic from the outcomes.
Even besides the technology aspect, Bitcoin is a SOCIAL invention, that is DONE by using technology, so even without the aim,
to build new technology, experimenting with different configurations makes sense.

And last but not least there are first fruits we learned from playing around,
and that made some coins, that will do something slightly better than Bitcoin and wont replace it,
but help to do something else, as we are in the same boat.
And if its only, to be less arrogant and through this, getting REALLY to the people.
Bitcoin is already an ecosystem, but dismissing its lab, that in fact represents the crowd, where it emerged from,
is doing the same error of traditional finance a second time in history

have fun

I dont think i will buy into any future alts in the hope of holding them for future profits. It seems all alts are good for is day trading to try and make a bit of profit. Almost all coins ive bought to hold have ended up losing massive value.  Best to just get rid of all of them and continue to develop bitcoin.

Best strategy to be my friend

1) do not buy Bitcoin under 500$
2) if Bitcoin reaches 750: Panic, sell all your altcoins to me!
3) When the run is over, come back and buy your Coins back for twice the price
4) after Bitcoin crash don't buy under 500
5) if Bitcoin reaches 850: Panic, sell all your altcoins to me!
6) When the run is over, come back and buy your Coins back for twice the price
7) after Bitcoin crash don't buy under 700
8)l if Bitcoin reaches 1050: Panic, sell all your altcoins to me!
9) When the run is over, come back and buy your Coins back for twice the price
10) Don't stop doing this, I love you ...

The biggest problem is once something does well everyone wants to just o on the bandwagon. Now the second problem is the plague of scammer wanting to make some quick btc. It is up to us to sort the shit coins from good coins and only support ones worth supporting or this problem will never go away and scammers will continue to come.

The smart money heard BTC was gonna be taxed by the IRS so they are fleeing back into BTC.

Shortly thereafter, they will cash out.

Pump, dump and repeat this is what happening in the altcoins ,people are in a hurry to buy the ICO and also in a hurry to dump it in the market when it hit there, then they go to another new kids in the block which is a new Ico it's a never ending cycle because there are a lot of money to be made.

you are saying it like everyone is from usa here, i can't give a damn about irs and their taxation, and many other from other country, don't care either, so that is definitely not the reason for this, not to mention that citizen from sua will find a way to avoid paying them

Sticking with bitcoin is the best thing to do for now. And If you want to get into Alt coins, I think it is best to go with the top 10 or top 5 coins based on market capitalization.

The term capitalization means as much as pimps promise to fund a hawaii trip for his most meisterhaft whore. Nothing. Combined altcoin capitalization pumps to the skies with 0.01% of bitcoin supply. It can pump infinitely with an ease of drunkard's thumbnail cracking a beer bottle. Plot an altcoin index based on any given altcoin capitalization and u will see that a bunch of senior alts from poloniex graveyard can in theory outperform bitcoin and its killer multibillion cap. The least valuable and forgotten coins pump insanely with just few hundreds of btc despite holding no promise to future utility, and can outpace bitcoin many times just like eth did in february. This means that the lesser the audience involved with the coin the higher the chance the irrational growth will have a little to no backing. Now imagine 50 thinned coins outreach bitcoins cap by 100 fold, together representing a capitalization of 1.2 trillion. News sites rail a huge hype to this ever-spreading madness of altcoin pumps and everyone who invested in bitcoin and was lucky to dump in time starts buying into them cause if he/she misses out on the rise he/she will have a weak knee issue till the end of their life. And in the end of the day alts will remain the vaporware they had been since long before the massive pump started coz altcoin index is a zero-sum game against btc market. Nobody will notice the difference in bitcoin price when money flows back to btc, but altcoin trillion cap will collapse sending alts back to the stone age regardless of how high they had been pumped.

though i see somehow more optimistic for a very small fraction of altcoins , regardless the long way, they have to go,
your view about "marketcap" nailed it. Marketcap doesn't say anything about an altcoin.

We have a mighty and strong Bitcoin price, so don't except any altcoin price rising anytime soon. Maybe we were in a generalised bubble for a few months after the Ethereum fever and we're now back to the mean.

its the same kind of time like after the 2014 scam bubble.
Its a headache after a massive ICO bubble and the Bitcoin price has been just a trigger for that,
but not the only reason. The reason is in fact frustration.
bitcoin price isn't a bubble for now, i think its even still undervalued.
But as it was 2014/2015 altcoin markets usually are going bearish short after Bitcoin rise,
go through a market cleanup, where many undesired coins will die,
and will then recover and follow the bitcoin curve, surviving altcoins will be stronger than before.

It happened more than once
business as usual
Matthias

EDIT: Yes, i can't remember an monero ICO either

Gulden is the only coin as a bag holder that has brought me profits each year. In fact my first purchase of Gulden is up from 90 sat to 4000sat today.

The reason Gulden has been successful is because it wasn't hyped and the user base has grown naturally.
They might have the best development team in crypto and they have managed to avoid getting onto the pump and dump hangout called Poloniex.

There 1.6.0 update this last week is probably the single best update in crypto history.

the devs have also said 2017 will make 2016 look like a slow year.

I agree with you on other coins, lost on a lot of the anonymous coins and maintained same value with digibyte at current prices.

So fuck it, it's Gulden for investment and will trade the rest of the shit out there.
