Is it true that Litecoin will be on MtGox soon? Has there been announced a date, or is it just speculations?

And finally: what is the need of LTC when we have BTC? To me it seems like a copycat currency.

For the, I think, fifth bloody time. It's just a rumour. There has been no announced date, and I doubt there will be until this month ends, or later.

Gosh, the rumour mill just never stops...

As far as LTC goes, why mine LTC when NVC does what LTC does and more?  Wink

There was talk about MtGox adding it on their twitter account: https://twitter.com/MtGox

Right now, they are standoffish on the topic, but they are open to Litecoin.  They know the cash they'll make.

I was gonna say "really need a topic on this subject again?" But with an answer like yours apparently we do...

They said they will make an announcement this week. Now unless you wanna argue that the announcement will be "we are not gonna support it" (then you are more than stupid). Yes its coming. Date has yet to be confirmed. But logically it shouldn't take a month to implement and they have been working on it for a week.

If you want a guesstimate before the announcement that should offer details beyond confirmation (that we already have), I would say within 2 weeks from now. If it takes longer than that, they really need better staff.

Anyone telling you otherwise is trying in vain to drive the price down. Anyone telling you exact dates is trying to hype it.

Remember, most of ltc rally was done before my gox rumors, and even more before confirmation. So, without trying to hype it myself, I think we didn't see most of the hype that news should create yet.

The price has gone down recently Smiley

Guess I'll buy 100 LTC, then.

Any wallets to recommend? Online wallets to begin with.

I can't even remotely understand how 3.8$ is down from 0.07$ last month and 0.40 last week....

MtGox has recently said that the "official announcement will likely be this week" on twitter.

Also, from irc yesterday:

Apr 07 12:14:12 <MagicalTux>   owowo: nah, we plan on adding more virtual currencies, that's a plan we had for a long time
Apr 07 12:14:34 <owowo>   <3
Apr 07 12:14:51 <liteboy>   btc-e just added ppc and trc yesterday, i guess its so that you guys dont tottaly take them out of the game?
Apr 07 12:15:18 <liteboy>   MAgicalTux; I know LTC and NMC, are there other ones on top of those 2 you are considering?
Apr 07 12:15:38 <MagicalTux>   liteboy: it depends on the strength of the devteam behind each currency and proven reliability
Apr 07 12:15:54 <MagicalTux>   also depends on customer depand
Apr 07 12:15:56 <MagicalTux>   demand*
Apr 07 12:16:25 <liteboy>   MAgicalTux: thats awesome, i like the fact that the actual dev of the coin means something to you. So no junk coins.
Apr 07 12:16:47 <liteboy>   Makes Mt.Gox strong like OX
Apr 07 12:17:01 <owowo>   yeah, baby!
Apr 07 12:17:45 <liteboy>   I have heard rumors that you will be making an announcment next week, is this accurate?
Apr 07 12:20:55 <MagicalTux>   liteboy: yes, it is
Apr 07 12:21:18 <liteboy>   MagicalTux: oh hooray. I hope its good news
Apr 07 12:21:49 *   FredEE (~fehrsam@199.73.113.159) has joined #mtgox
Apr 07 12:21:55 <liteboy>   MagicalTux: Do you have any spoilers you can dish out about the announcement?
Apr 07 12:22:40 <MagicalTux>   liteboy: nope
Apr 07 12:22:56 <liteboy>   MagicalTux: lol, hey, it was worth a try Smiley
Apr 07 12:23:58 <liteboy>   MagicalTux: are you able to state wheather or not Mt.Gox is still planning LTC for this month?
Apr 07 12:25:08 <MagicalTux>   liteboy: You'll see next week

Make of that what you will, but it's definitely not just a rumour.

For the love of god don't fucking use an online wallet. It will crash and you will lose all your litecoins.

The LTC ticker on MtGox was updated this weekend, so they are definitely working on LTC @ MtGox.

I bought and mined a small shitload of them (2770 LTC) and wait...

Once they are on MtGox you have over 300.000 new potential customers for the LTC market...

Probably started as a joke, but they were spammed with so much interest they took it seriously and want to take their piece of the pie Grin
