Is there an Europe group by thread, have I missed seeing it?

I would also be interested in a EU group buy thread.
If shipping costs are too high maybe we can send them all to 1 member and then he can re-send inside the EU.

I already agreed with sidehack to register them for EU WEEE regulations and offer them on bitshopper.de and on Amazon. It'll be available in significant numbers.

The first test PCBs were supposed to arrive Thursday before I left for holidays. I'll get them when I return this week, and have a few test units dispatched to resellers and reviewers within a few days. That's the plan anyways.

And of course there'll be pictures posted.

Can't wait for the upcoming pics. I love pictures of the miners more than the hashing power (dual chips? Haven't seen more than one since the hex-fury usb!) Shocked On the other hand, when do you expect the 1385 pod presale to start? I know it's a bit early to ask bit I'm just curious.

On the subject of trades -

I'm comfortable with a one-to-one 2Pac trade, one S5 board for one 2Pac. Not sure yet where I'll settle for a Biggie pod (yes, the official name of the BM1384 pod is now the Biggie) but, given the estimate of $75 per versus $30 per 2Pac, 3 boards makes sense (and would probably merit free shipping). I'll probably do a trade-plus-cash where 2 boards (since they nest in pairs in their natural habitat) would cover $60 of the $75, so an additional $15 plus shipping.

But in the meantime, I'm open to trading one free 2Pac (with free economy shipping within the US) for an S5 board (that hasn't caught on fire). Anyone open to this deal?

i am sending one, maybe two S5 over. One would be for two 2PACs, second-not sure yet. Cannot send just boards.
My understanding is that you might keep the rest of the miner (minus two boards) to potentially mount future unannounced bitfury boards on it.
I believe that you posted somewhere that it is a possibility (with shipping of the modded miner back).

BTW, since I was talking about the future ^^^, would beaglebone blacks serve any purpose on such modded miners?

Biodom, if you send the whole miner remind me when it's time that I owe you two cores and I'll get you hooked up.

No, the Boner on those won't serve any real purpose. If it still had USB, maybe.

In the end, I am sending three full S5 over, for a couple of 2Pacs and an additional credit toward two Biggies, etc.
Details in PM.

Got a couple working 2Pacs. One small problem with the PCB (I forgot to make sure the buck enable line was tied) that's already been fixed in the design software, but everything else is working exactly as expected.

Gonna start stocking up on parts so I can assemble the other 8 prototypes and get 'em out for testing and review. Send off for PCBs first of next week and get this batch rolling.

Can't wait to get my stick and start hashing! Looks like the 2pacs are nearly identical to the original compacs, something I like with stick miners Smiley Can't wait to see how high these sticks can go with a powered hub...

On the original the heatsink over hung the pcb. The 2pac is level, almost like it was planned for two chips years ago  Wink Cheesy

The overall size of the 2Pac is the same as the Compac. The heatsink is the same size, and the bottom of it is at the same height relative to the USB jack, but the PCB is extended. The ASICs are on the backside, so the heatsink is on the opposite side from the original. This heatsink is a Compac leftover re-drilled; the center screw isn't populated because the existing middle screw hole is there but about 2mm off center, making it really impossible to drill and tap a fresh M3 hole.

I had thought about a 2-chip BM1384 stick when we were doing the original Compac, but I was still thinking single-sided so it would have been shaped a lot differently. I like this one a lot better. It'll be an extra assembly step and a bit harder to do initial testing before final assembly and shipping, but the end result is quite a bit better.

Thanks. Tomorrow's gonna be a busy day (sandwich day, among other errands) but maybe I'll get a head start on Biggie layout. The whole control section is already done, just gotta do the chip field and associated node signal lines and LDOs.

By the way, the next step is gathering chips so anyone who wants to trade S5 boards for credit on 2Pacs, Biggies or cores for refit boards should start talking soon.

Since it appears you have at least one 2pac running, I was wondering if the new software was available for download (whether it be a modded cgminer or a tool like zadig)?

I know you have a new software/programmer dev & remember reading he was finished for the most part with making these 2pacs or maybe it was a prototype you sold in a previous auction run better than ever? If possible, I would like to download any necessary components in preparation, & they should also work with the original compacs as well (if I am not mistaken).

Thanks sidehack!

Software will be made available when it's ready, and before 2Pacs start shipping. It's up to VH when to release, and he has a plan. He said he'd set something up before the review sticks go out so folks will be able to actually run them, and that's probably not until next week because necessary parts to build the rest of the prototype sticks are still inbound.

I'll be sending VH a care package including an original Compac, a couple 2Pacs and a decent testing hub so he can see how they behave in person and iron out any issues locally. Should speed up compatibility and stability issues.
