Um, they're made in and ship from the US. The shipping cost is constant regardless of batch size within the US.
Sorry, all of the ASICs I have dealt with are made in China, so I assumed the same here. What is the price for the 8-chip "pod"?

Probably $65, once it exists.

Thanks, what's the anticipated timeframe for availability?

Currently there isn't one, which means it's farther out than I would like. Prototypes have been working for months, the final board design is almost complete but should have been finished a couple weeks ago. Right now I have enough work stacked up to keep three of myself busy full-time and helpers keep disappearing on me.

So, what's a good recommendation for a hub to power these miners?

Batch 3 manufacture is underway as scheduled. However, my chip source kinda disappeared on me for a week or so; I was expecting a truckload to arrive today but it actually hasn't been shipped out yet. What that means is, I'll have a few days downtime between these first few sticks getting finished and the rest of the batch getting started.
I'm not too upset, because that allows me some time to work on a few Terminus prototypes I'm going to put up for auction to raise money for a friend's medical bills.
It also allows me to waller out some production bottlenecks by setting up a second reflow oven and second testing station.
Oh and also once the truckload does arrive (I'm basically just buying out a retired mine) I'll have something like seven thousand chips, which is enough for all of Batch 3, all of Batch 4, all the remaining bitshopper.de sticks ordered and a couple hundred Terminus pods. So I shouldn't run out again for a while, and running out of chips has been the cause of a lot of delays so far.

I hope your Terminus prototypes workout as planned.

I've also got some "factory seconds" 2Pacs I'll sell, profits from which will go to the same thing as the aforementioned auction ( https://www.gofundme.com/lauras-eating-disorder-recovery). These 2Pacs were ones which failed final testing because, at stock voltage settings, they either were not fully stable or ran too many HW errors. They'd still work at a higher voltage, but since they were too far out of spec I wouldn't ship them for regular orders. So let me know if you're interested.

Question for anybody who knows.
I know this is a essentially a one man operation. So should I expect any sort of notice when my 2PACs ship, or will they just appear in my mailbox one day?

They'll probably just appear. It's statistically likely that your order will ship between last Friday (7 July) and two Fridays from now (21 July) depending on your order in the queue. I've shipped out over 360 Batch 3 sticks in the last two weeks and by the end of this week that should be closer to 700. Pretty much everything after that point is bulk orders.

Out of interest. How many minions are in your production team? What is the estimated stress test on the 2Pacs and pods?

I currently have one full-time minion, which is the most minion I've ever had. Just started last week. I have another guy who occasionally helps when he has time but he's also a general handyman for a lot of folks around town so he stays pretty busy.
Every 2Pac is run at 100MHz stock voltage for 30 minutes. Every one that passes (no dropouts or HW) are writted with a serial number and run an additional 30 minutes. Every one that passes gets shipped. Hence why I guarantee stock specs and overclocking is "at your own risk".

Very interesting. So for the most part this has been a solo operation. Its alot of work to get to 700 stable units. I look forward to the pod miners. Both BM and BF pods.

I had a part-timer working between classes February through April, the other guy helping out some in May and June but not a lot. I've been basically manufacturing solo for the last two or three years.
