These are my settings for cgminer on 32 bit windows 7:
--auto-fan --gpu-engine 850 --gpu-memclock 1200 -I 12 --thread-concurrency 13632 --shaders 1024 --worksize 256 -v 1

On 850 clock speed I get 220 Kh/s
On 1050 clock speed I get 285 Kh/s (artifacts appear after a few minutes)

I cannot get gui miner - scrypt (alpha) to work. I presume that a 7850 appears as device "Pitcairn" ?

I have only 4 gb of system memory and an i3 2100. Would upgrading to windows 7 64 bit or Windows 8 64 bit improve my hash rates in cgminer?

Edit:

I also have the following in the batch/cmd file:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

That intensity correlates about with that KH/s. I get a steady stream at 19 intensity of ~330 kh/s with jumps up to 350 on occasion but that is the total max of the card.

That makes sense.

I get artifacts at intensity 13 (245 Kh/s) when using the desktop.

I guess I can push intensity 15 by closing all programs when I leave the computer mining over night? The artifacting just means the intensity is too high for active use?

It's my first day of gpu mining and my cards seem to be pushing past 80 degrees (I'm in India and it's warm in my room usually since I'm in the top most floor of a building.) I've got a short case whose bottom cuts off at the end of the motherboard so I've removed all the back peripheral card covers to increase rear airflow (the 7850 takes up 2 out of 4 rear slots.)

IF you want to keep the cards cool get some nice 3 pin cpu fans and place them on top of cards. That does wonders for my rigs. You can see a temp drop almost within 3 seconds.

I'm using an Indian brand of computer cases which allows me to fit long cards but I'm not sure about their ventilation. What do you mean by on top of the card traderman? A pic would be nice.

At intensity 12, I get 223.3 Kh/s (there are a few artifacts after some desktop use but nothing major)
At intensity 17, I get nearly 300 Kh/s (artifacts appear whenever I open or close folders and similar minor activity)

Any higher than intensity 17, there are no benefits for my 2GB ASUS 7850.

Set thread concurrency to 9984, gpu: 1100MHz mem: 1200MHz I:17-18 if it's a dedicated miner.
Remember to disable windows aero etc. If you're using it at the same time, even to open the start menu then lower the intensity. Cheesy

I get little over 360KH/s with 1% of garbage in HW: & R: per 7850.
A few more KH/s in debian squeeze 6.0.7-amd64 with self built cgminer 2.11.4.
On another partition i tried it with win7u 64x with the prebuilt cgminer 2.11.4.
On both OS I used Catalyst 13.1, AMD APP SDK 2.7 and ADL SDK 5.0 ...obviously the adl in windows was whatever version it was because it came in the prebuilt cgminer.

I't also runs for a while at +390KH/s at gpu: 1200MHz and mem: 1300Mhz
...but wouldn't recommend without liquid cooling. And what ever you trial i'd say leave the voltage lock untouched. Tongue

I'm steady at 341.9Mh/s, so totally agree on the max of the card. I'm at 1200MHz core and 1300MHz memory. 1.18V stable

First off, were talking about scrypt here, so 341,9Kh/s would be more right. And secondly i'd like to point out that nobody has said anything about which card do they actually have. There are quite a lot of different cards with this gpu made by numerous manufacturers. In my case on scenario I have 2x XFX R7850 core edition cards with 1Gb of ddr5 running stable with cgminer @ gpu:1100 mem:1300 intensivity:17 1.21V
They produce 370Kh/s each with about 1% of garbage in rejected shares and hw-errors.

Hey guys.

Can someone please just copy and paste EXACTLY what they have for cgminer for get some nice khash/s with a 7850? I have a sapphire one getting 270-280 with no settings but -I 12. ( Higher than 12  gives less and HW errors)

Just noticed that. Don't know if I want to run that hot. Shame, I can get 330 Mhash with ease.

It's always better to be stable and safe than to gain a few Kh/s momentarely. But you can safely take everything else from my examples and just adjust the clockspeeds and intensity down. Rest of the config works on 7850 with all clockings and intensities rather optimally. Smiley

complete noob here... But i got a

Asus Radeon HD 7850 2gbGDDR5
Default: 860 Mhz GPU / 1200 Mhz Memory

At that rate i get 340-360 khash/s according to GUIminer...

Overclocked to

1050mhz gpu / 1450hmz mem
and it goes 350-370 khash/s...

But then i had someone mention i should be getting mhash/s? so am i doing something wrong here...?

Set Escrow
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On LTC mining I can get around 600KH/s on a 7950, with mild overclock.
