It's started

Let the angst and missed boat FUD begin with the press. The all hail btc is petering out
Now we need to sell media content www eyeballs/magazines/ etc on why it will fail for more hype
and sales.

              https://www.technologyreview.com/s/603295/why-bitcoins-1000-value-doesnt-matter/

These articles drive me nuts - they are manifestly hit pieces. Yes, at $16B, Bitcoin total value pales against broad money of the globe. What these news articles lie about by omission is that the same CIA list they are using for the global broad money figures puts a $16B broad money value as slightly above half of all central-bank currencies in money supply - #95.5 out of 193 (or 194 including this Bitcoin interloper).

(BTW, it is currently $16,860M - or #93.5 in rank)

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2215rank.html

When do they flip from worried enough to spout disinfo to outright panicked? When we hit #67 in rank? Larger than 2/3 of central bank currencies?

Anyone with a campaign ad in their signature -- for an organization with which they are not otherwise affiliated -- is automatically deducted credibility points.

I've been convicted of heresy. Convicted by a mere known extortionist. Read my Trust for details.

Im starting to see and read articles everywhere about bitcoin now. If it continues in the news and media like this we can have a full on bubble before we know it. Get those sell orders ready in essence because once this bubble pops there no telling how low it will go.

I think when the bubble burst we could reach a price of something between 450 to 600 dollars I don't think it is going to get lower than that simply because there is more demand than in past bubble.

Do you really wonder why there is a lack of news coverage on a currency that could threaten governments from news outlets backed by governments? One day they will have no choice to report on it but for now, most people still don't know what bitcoin even is. Just give it time and in the mean time keep supporting it and spreading the word.

That is holly true. Not so many people know about bitcoin in all mass of people. It's only a little percent. So why would newspapers talk about a new rise of unknown subject. I'm pretty sure that in those newspapers who had wrote about bitcoin's rise work people interested in bitcoin.

Give it time. The more we do our thing the more people will understand it and adopt it. At one point news outlets will have no choice but to cover it!  Grin

I've seen some videos in bloomburg, CCN and CNBC, but those have been in the business section, not on the main channels. I wonder if they did some mentions in the national news that I missed out since I don't even watch TV, I don't own a TV anymore and just watch youtube videos and streams.

The last time that I saw bitcoin on actual TV was when the Craig Wright thing happened. They sightly mentioned how "the creator of bitcoin has been caught". Of course the next couple of days they didn't even bother to clarify how it was all a hoax, so everyone that saw that still thinks Craig Wright was the creator, I doubt they even remember they saw that tho... anyway mainstream media is trash.

I think the news media and newspapers have some restrictions from their governments, like do not spread this type of news in the market, so they are not supporting for this bitcoin publicity. In my country, i never saw any news regarding for this bitcoin. Only on the international channel is saw sometimes. That is why in my country still lot's of people don't know what bitcoin is.

Some users should drive you nuts here as well

And I certainly don't mean myself since I tell folks here basically the same when they start claiming that Bitcoin doesn't cut it as a global currency or currency at all against fiat in terms of money supply. They seem to be completely forgetting that fiat is an abstract concept and in real life there are dozens if not hundreds of fiat currencies out there. And while Bitcoin is tiny when compared to the US dollar or Chinese Yuan, it is still big enough if we compare it with the rest of fiat currencies

If the newspaper specializes itself in financial news then it is justified to talk about this little known asset that was rising in price at a very fast pace, so their readers can take the decision to inform themselves about it and if they choose to invest on it.

Why would they cover the "rally " in the first place ? It's not newsworthy outside blockchain space, unless it's really huge.

But the recent price of bitcoin took the mainstream media by surprise, Bitcoin, like any other thing, is driven by demand and supply. In the past few weeks, the demand for Bitcoin has been high due to various factors in the world, and the increased demand has driven the price over 1000$ and that has been a surprise for a lot of people.

I guess media will cover every "abnormal things" so this too.

There might not have been sufficient coverage of the rally, but the drop in its price has been highlighted.
Guess the media does like to promote sensational news.

Because anyone that knew of the rally could have invested and earned something between 10 to 50% of profits in a matter of days depending when you enter in the market, earning that amount is something it will take you years or even decades by leaving your money in the bank.

Lol I know right? Holy shit I saw a few little articles about it hitting $1000 but then everyone loves a doomsday story I guess. "The price dropped 20%!!!" What they forgot to say is "after a 40% gain!" Lol. What a joke. It's volatile. Get used to it god damn mainstream media.

to me i think only because of the lack o introduction of bitcoin to the people. i think less that 1% people of the world know about bitcoin while the rest of the people have no idea about it. i think a lot of advertisement is necessary about bitcoins in such areas.
