Breaking: Bitcoin OFFICIALLY touches $1,000

Looks like all the sites are starting to catch up that's good.
Now will it grow is the question, and lets hope its a good answer.

The way I see it is it's been growing for the past 2-3 years despite having it's reputation tarnished. Thus I see no reason for it to slow down. On the other hand $1,000 is such a great psychological wall that who knows what will happen.

I keep asking my self why the price has jumped from 800 to 1000 on the last week, makes no sense, we all wanna bigger value but we are talking about a massive pump into bitcoin and this means milions dollars, its 25% raise without any valid reason besides the big wish from the community to see bitcoin at the 4 digits again. I do hope to keep this price all the year and go up as well, but im ceptic about it, makes no sense such pump.

I believe it will touch 1100 then slowly come back to 900 to gather power for the new record, its good to have a solid base at 900, its a good place to start next rally

There are a lot of things going on in the world that could be contributing without even mentioning the fact that it's been a steady climb up from ~$200 for the past two years. I don't think it's necessarily a "pump".

I do believe many places are saying its a influx of chinese buyers no ones really sure tho if its a pump or dump.
Especially with the latest political stunts and them trying to become the new world standard in money.

This is great!  I think this $1000 price is well deserved than way back 2013.  Almost all exchanges have met that price of BTC.  It seems the next stop would be the NEW ATH and it is not far from happening . GO BITCOIN!  Break that ALL TIME HIGH RECORD.

To be honest, I didn't expect that bitcoin will reach 1k USD before the year ends.
I rather expected slow fall back to 800 or 700, before another rise..

It is really unexpected as i never expected to cross the thousand dollar price in the first day of 2017 itself ,it is really interesting to see how things go from now and i do hope the rally continues since the resistance has being broken and i hope a rally once again to newer heights.

This shows that 2017 will be the year of bitcoin without a doubt. This time is not a bubble, it increased in price in a slow but steady way (i.e 6 months actually). Smartest people are those who are holders of bitcoin since a long time (i.e price of 250-450) and now if they want they may sell to make a lot of profit. If I were them I would not sell and keep holding my coins. Everything is going the right way, (right way is the price to go up and up to the moon).

Speculation during a week when most people are on holiday over Christmas seeing family and friends. Thinner order books during holiday season makes it easier to push upwards.

The question is what happens when people are back at work.

That would be nice .  Good for buyers but sad for sellers and bounty hunters and freelancers that is paid in bitcoin.  Anyway, this might be a bubble but I think this is in the middle and not yet on the peak.   Though I hope that this increase is a natural one but we cannot set aside the fact that there is always manipulation.  I hope the bubble don't burst soon if this price increase is caused by it.

It may have doubled in the past 6 months but this isn't a "bubble". December of 2013 was a bubble. For the past couple of years it's been a slow healthy climb up despite all odds including bitcoin being heavily criticized. I think the recent surge in price is only a culmination of that and isn't going to drop too hard. Even if it does, it will have needed it. It's been proven by looking at 2013 to present that bitcoin obviously has huge potential, so if it crashes again just ride it out like we did last time and eventually we'll break through whatever new record high we achieve this time.

This is true, this time the growth was more stable, and hardly anyone will say that this is the result of a bubble. I think the price may suffer some drops, but the recovery will probably occur soon after, just as it has been occurring for the last few months. There is a more active community, compared to 2013, and a much larger user base. People are taking advantage of each dip to buy it.

How nice. It's a great new year for us and for bitcoin. But I hope it will not go down at 1000$ per bitcoin, I am seeing other figures not reaching the 1000$ figure. There are other exchangers whose rates runs from 980$ to 994. But I ñoticed that it is still not stable so hopefully it will jump over 1000$ or it will go down to 970$ later this day.
