Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but not all should be taken seriously. If there's a new currency bound to replace bitcoin, I just hope it is for the good of the users. Or if not, I hope the developers still find ways to make bitcoin more of the currency that is full of potential to be THE currency, and not just another run-of-the-mill currency. The future is full of uncertainties, and we are in the digital age, so anything can really happen.

If at some point there is an altcoin that replaces bitcoin then it would need to be a lot better than bitcoin in order to displace it out of the top spot that it currently has, it will need to be faster, anonymous, with a more stable price and more.

The key point here is that it must be able to meet transaction demand and that means an adaptive blocksize limit and long term security for the coin. Bitcoin in its current implementation fails this test and proposals such as Segwit and Lightning Network are at best a one time scaling.

There will be no alternative coins that will replace bitcoin. Even though that coins exceed the price of bitcoin it will still not replace it. But if there are digital currency that will possibly replace bitcoin it will be the fiat digital currency that the banks will release. Digital currency own by the banks will have fast adoption if it will be implemented and bitcoin will have problem if it will not reach enough users.

Well, for me it is like a discussion, and no one give any proof about the future that Why bitcoin die? Everyone die tomorrow but we are still doing struggle to make our life easy. So if anyone said that bitcoin would be die in future, So don't take tension, because when bitcoin was not in this world but still we are live and live a happy life, And also in future we will be live with or without bitcoin. But the point is that, than why bitcoin is going to high? and not a few, even many people making a money from it, and everyday bitcoin's users number is increasing. So i don't think that bitcoin suddenly die, it live long in future.

Who said bitcoin is not the future? It is the future, except that it will not replace fiat due to that there are limited amount. Bitcoin is the cybergold, which will always keep and potentially increase in value.

If bitcoin is the future then it will definitely dominate fiat, like making people forgetting to use fiats for their daily needs. It means when everything will be available for bitcoin payments, fiats will get obsoleted. The reality we are going to face in 2017 would be realizing the true value of bitcoins according to its demand and potential. I foresee $10,000 for this

i agree with this, as long as internet still available in every where, then bitcoin will be the cybergold in internet, like gold as investment in offline life. bitcoin itself has a good future and it will be a digital currency like todays, and we can use bitcoin to buy something. bitcoin is like a knife, only us that will determine what we want to use with our bitcoin.

I heard about Bitcoin and starting mining it a couple days later. at that time it was $5-$7 = 1 Bitcoin. Mining back then was a blast and a great hobby. Especially if you were a pc gamer. Sorry to all you data center miners out there but Bitcoin was so much better back in the hobby days. I swear if it were still in the hands of the home miners it would be more popular. I remember back in the day deleting wallets with 8, 10 bitcoins because I thought they were worthless.
Just wasn't about greed back then. It's weird that bitcoin hit it's peak around the same time 2 years in a row.....
We need bitcoin in the hands of the common...not the rich.

It was actually pretty amusing to read it first time and then convincing when I read it backwards. Thanks for this. isn't it Michael Moriarty who stole BTC from RJ? OP is a legendary and promotes Bitcoin wallet and yet he doesn't believe Bitcoin is the currency of the future. Its something you won't expect from someone who uses BTC for almost 3 years assuming this legendary account is originally used from newbie to legendary. Who said bitcoin is not the future? It is the future, except that it will not replace fiat due to that there are limited amount. Bitcoin is the cybergold, which will always keep and potentially increase in value.

I foresee $10,000 for this Not necessarily that it would dominate fiat as its meant to be used online.

It is like everything is just against bitcoin nothing good came out of there. Just like you said it is backwards. Thr success of bitcoin now getting back to its real price like just last week ago can be seen it is not imaginary. It came down but still it is making its way up. I dont know if this is some kind of a strategy or just making bitcoin fall for their own coins to take over.

It's time to face reality in 2017 Bitcoin is not the currency of the future We need to stop listening to self-proclaimed experts and hack economists who say Bitcoin will change the world The Bitcoin experiment has finally been resolved. Everybody was wrong: Bitcoin is dead. Mike Hearn said ‘farewell to Bitcoin’ and took a job with Goldman Sachs because he thought ‘Bitcoin is just an experiment.’ Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire says nobody will be using Bitcoin in 5 years because It’s still early days. Something better will come along and replace it. People were wrong when they said Bitcoin will bring reliable self-banking to the unbanked in third world countries. Smart people understand that Bitcoin challenges central banking and undermines the ability of governments to keep financial tabs on their citizens. In order to fight terrorism, the government tracks everything you do online. Personally, I’m tired of living in a world where Hackers, drug dealers and terrorists can use Bitcoin to get away with their crimes. It’s actually just a myth that Bitcoin is good for the world. That’s dead wrong. You aren’t smart enough to use Bitcoin; it will never be adopted by the masses. Economists like Paul Krugman keep saying Bitcoin is evil. I don’t believe that Bitcoin can make the world a better place by empowering people. All you can do with Bitcoin is buy drugs. And maybe a hitman. It just isn’t true that Bitcoin can be used for good as well as bad. It is true that Bitcoin is riddled with scams and crooks. Mt. Gox blew up, Ross Ulbricht went down. Hardly a day goes by without somebody getting hacked or handcuffed. We all know Bitcoin was born in sin. Charlie Stross wants Bitcoin to die in a fire. He says Bitcoin is evil. I’m tired of hearing that Bitcoin is actually close to mass adoption. The price of Bitcoin today is nearing an all-time high, but the Economist Magazine says it’s just a bubble – Like tulip mania. The smart money says The experiment is over – Bitcoin has failed. But wait – isn’t this all backwards?! Read the article in reverse: Only fools believe that [Original article by Dr. Michael Moriarty published at http://darknetmarkets.com/time-face-reality-2017/ . Dr. Michael Moriarty is the owner of https://TorWallet.com and one of the largest Bitcoin holders in the world.] I really don't understand why this statement being posted here in this forum, For what I know to face the reality in 2017 is that bitcoin will continue to progress for what people believing it. Even there's lot of critics out there in Bitcoin the community will still support bitcoin, because of its very unique system to everyone all around the world.

Yes bitcoin is an experiment, but I think this experiment is gone right until now. Why it's right? When 1 millions peoples use some services, and continues day by day, I think it called success.

this is not the first and it will certainly not going to be the last of these types of comments on this forum. bitcoin is not perfect and we all know that, but nothing is perfect. but the good thing is that bitcoin is a lot better than any other similar substitute. and speaking like OP is not going to solve anything, it is just annoying and has no other effect !

Bitcoin is slowly getting accepted by more and more shops which is definitely a step in the right direction. Hopefully it continues this way.

Bitcoin will bring reliable self-banking to the unbanked in third world countries. I dont think it will be easily implemented as many third world country dont have internet connection and probably if they dont have a bank account I dont think they would know about bitcoin so it will not be implemented easily but lets hope that time will come and hopefully no one is ignorant about technology anymore.
