Personal computers were invented in 70s and Internet in 90s. Can we put blockchains to the list of the greatest innovation of Technology which was innovated in recent years? What do you think?

Hindsight is always 20/20.  When computers and the Internet were first coming out, it was considered to be sort of a nerds toy that wasn't fully appreciated as time continued.  Same thing will probably end up happening with the blockchain.  We are at a forefront of a pretty cool experiment that can have a major significance going forward or could be just chalked up to be nothing of importance like eGold. Only time will tell.

We cannot put it on that list by ourselves, only those managing these lists can decide whether Bitcoin should be there or not. What makes it a great innovation is that it is known it was only one person that created it, and the features it has and the way it works.. makes it seem impossible to be created by a man. Nobody knows if it was a person or a group, a man, men, a woman, women or even a mixed group. Who created it is/are genius for sure.

with the blockchain as new innovation in technology and internet, i think for future, if mass adoption is happen, many people especially government will realize that blockchain can gives benefit to the economy in the country beside that, bitcoin will be growth in number of user.

If I am not mistaken except two members of the forum had answered in this thread the most gave their vote first to blockchain technology and some were in dilemma so they were neutral between blockchain and bitcoin. So I would like to ask. Without the bitcoin who had give attention to blockchain except some enthusiasts or very creative and inspired people? I am fairly confident  even though I don't ignore the obvious benefits of blockchain that bitcoin is the greatest innovation between them. I think it should be Bitcoin and not blockchain as it was said in the early posts, blockchain were around longer than we know, but it is the invention or creation of Bitcoin that make it so innovative influencing and forcing financial institution to look into blockchain technology and innovation used by bitcoin.  Bitcoin also shaping the online finance system on its own way. 

After the invention of the internet, one can say that blockchain technology is the most revolutionary innovation of recent years. It's not just me saying that, but these are also the words of many experts studying different technologies, and their impact on the economy and society.

I think Bitcoin (public cryptographic blockchain) is the greatest innovation in the history of mankind.

The internet is really nothing compared to this.

bitcoin is just code.
but its how PEOPLE treat it and use it that changes things.

bitcoin does not have a voice to tell someone to not pull the trigger.
bitcoin does not have a hand to take a gun from someones grasp

its PEOPLE that can stop wars. but right now PEOPLE like blockstream are trying to start another economic civil war, by commercialising bitcoin.

bitcoin was suppose to be the financial system with no barriers of entry. but blockstreams motives have caused things like fee wars. and now atleast a dozen developing countries that would benefit most from bitcoin cant/wont use bitcoin due to fee's being more than an hours wage.

and dont blame it on data issues.. blockstream are happy with 4mb of data per block. but dont want it to be 4x transaction capacity to equal 4mb of data. they are pretending to give a one time gesture of 2x capacity. but as fast as people adopt the new keys when it activates. they will take away this boost by adding in extra bytes of data which bloat the data but decrease the tx count back to what we get now.

EG a 360byte 2in 2out tx,  will become 1.370kb tx for the same 2in 2out. once you add the bloat of confidential payments, csv cltv and other features blockstream want.

so while they bloat up the data onchain without offering much in the way of real transaction scaling they will push people into LN commercial service hubs to rule bitcoin users lives.
only ever increasing the onchain block capacity as a gesture to allow the commercial LN settlements to settle without a bottleneck..
yes its already been thought about talked about and conceived as their ideal plan for the future. keep bitcoin held back until the commercial services needs the utility of onchain scaling..

bitcoins ethos is being eroded by PEOPLE who want control and to be at the "core" of bitcoin they even said so by naming their brand as such.

so while ethical people sit on their hands and trust bitcoin (voiceless handless code) will save the planet.. corporations with banker investment are corrupting the people that have their hands and voices of bitcoin

To compare think how many people are using a fork or a spoon or a microwave? Also, like others have said, blockchain is only a tool for Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the one that deserves a place on that list.

I agree with you , Internet has been the pioneer of the global village we all talk about, it's brought about everything in its time and made life really simple. Imagine what we would have done by now if we couldn't do business while airborne. It's Internet any day!!!!  Look at how video calls has improved family Cohesion. There's no doubt Internet is a bar ahead of all.

Indeed. After revolution of connected computers, bitcoin must be the greatest innovation. Yes, not just blockchain, it was coded to have decentralization characteristics in my understanding. Moreover, I like to compare bitcoin to inventions like fire and wheel, a concept changer.

A private money is an unimaginable revolution. Bitcoin is going to change how so far the world is transacting. The greatest innovation of 21st century imho.

For me this sounds as an evidence ! Even though the blockchain technology needs the personal computers to work, as the Internet, I think it will have a greater positive impact on people's lives. This is a revolution, as at same way as the French Revolution or the October Revolution, this is a revolution from the people, in order to free them from a greater power, supposed or real, that would have been oppressing them. Here that would be the recent bank's attitude to be hostile to privacy, while in some way computers led to the global mass watch from the governments. For this reason this is for me the greatest one.

Blockchain is indeed a great innovation, but what I don't like is how some are trying to make it seem like that is the only good thing of bitcoin and they try to only take that part out of it, bitcoin in itself is even greater than the blockchain in my opinion but they don't want to recognize it out of fear.

I'm not sure if I would agree with that, at least not when you know that Bitcoin hasn't really risen to it's full potential.
Over the next couple of years it's possible that it could be replaced by an alternate crypto-currency.

The blockchain is the foundation on which Bitcoin is built, so I don't see how Bitcoin could be greater than the blockchain? In some sense, Bitcoin IS the blockchain.
