What is the power consumption of alt coin mining. Just as a general rule. I understand this question is hard to answer because of tuning and bios modding. I would test myself but all my rigs are running on 240v and i only have a 120v watt meter.

ETH:

R9 390   180W
R9 380X 140W
RX470    125W
GTX970  140W

ZEC:?
LBRY:?
XMR:?

If any one can give a ball park figure that would be awesome. I run r9 380x cards and i understand that they will all be different be there must be some order as to consumption.

Thanks.

Some figures for my cards (all mining eth) all running at near stock frequencies
R9 390   180W
R9 380X 140W
RX470    125W
GTX970  140W

Cards mining XMR:
R9 280X/7970  140W
They are all undervolted except the lone GTX970.

Fellow miners, get your thens and thans in order and help other forum readers understand what you are writing. Remember the grammar basics:  B larger THAN A (comparator operator). If something THEN ....

Thanks for some great numbers. Now for ZEC and LBRY. Smiley

this question doesn't make sense it depend on the hashrate you want, if you reduce the power limit you get less hash but less consumption

if you have high electricity the second choice is better otherwise with cheap electricity i would always overclock the shit out of any gpu

You are running cards on stock... You can always change that and alter power consumption the way you want it. Anyway from what i found from personal experience is that power consumption is lowest when mining Zec for almost same profitability.

Thanks for the input. Thats really what i was wondering over all. I understand its hard to judge but with a stock setting what coin uses the least power. Maybe i should have just asked that in the first place.

There isn't any shop in your area with 240v wattmeters?

Get a clamp ammeter.

I can say a few words about RX 480 cards (480P836BM) Smiley and power draw
All my cards are optimized for eth mining , if im using modded bios I optimized for zec or xmr , all this numbers going to change ...
there is my another build i documented here on bitcointalk:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1614386.0

Im using xfx rx480/8gb (480P836BM) cards for my latest builds .

xfx rx 480 / 8gb original bios
Those numbers is for the card itself , not the whole system.

ETH : 24MH/s , power draw 150 watts using claymores 7.4
ZEC: 230H/s , power draw 145-150 watts , using claymores zcash v11
XMR: 630H/s , power draw 120-130 watts , using claymores CryptoNote GPUv9.7

xfx rx 480 / 8gb with modded bios , bios optimized for hashing speed
ETH: 30.3MH/s , power draw 175 watts , using claymores 7.4
ZEC: 234H/s , power draw 165 watts , claymores zcash v11
XMR : 758H/s , power draw 165 watts , using claymores CryptoNote GPUv9.7

xfx rx 480 / 8gb with modded bios , bios optimized for lower energy usage / higher hash rate
ETH: 29.6MH/s , power draw 135 watts , using claymores 7.4
ZEC: 217H/s , power draw 120 watts , claymores zcash v11
XMR: 731H/s , power draw 116 watts , using claymores CryptoNote GPUv9.7

I have 14 of those cards  , with 2x7 setup .
I received them with 3 different version number ( 0 , 1 , 2 ) and 3 different bioses.

Modded all bioses , card hashnig between 29.8-30.1 MH/s stable
with modded bioses , each card consume around 120-130 watts on 240 volts , 7 cards setup with mobo/cpu/sdd/8gb mem , the whole system is pulling around 900 - 970 watts on 240 volts.

Without modded bios the cards was hashnig stable with 24MH/s and consumed around 150-160 watts , the whole system is pulled around 1100 watts..Im using evga 1600 watts T2 psu ...
