I had some coins on Gox and decided to transfer them to the wallet app I downloaded on my phone.  I made a transfer of BTC.01 just to make sure it was working, and those coins showed up in about 10 minutes.  So I transferred the rest of my coins to the same address (my phone wallet).  After about 10 hours of waiting, the coins never showed up on my phone.  I tried restarting the app, restarting my phone, and nothing seemed to work.  I uninstalled the Wallet app and re-downloaded it from the Google Play Store.  I opened the new wallet and saw that it had a different bitcoin address than the previous app.  Like a newbie, I never backed up my keys from the first wallet app.  Does this mean my coins are gone or is there any way to restore the previous wallet app?

i think u lost your bitcoins since you uninstalled your app without backup..

when you make a transsaction and in the other wallet u cant see it, just wait a little, and see how the confirmation of the transaction is going on the first wallet

Probably lost, but it wouldn't hurt to contact the wallet app developer and see if the app in fact wipes everything when you uninstall it. Maybe the key is still floating around. It's NOT unusual for receiving addresses to change, so that doesn't necessarily mean that the wallet got wiped and re-created.

It's possible that the app made a backup of the wallet, you can check that by plugging it into your computer and then just open the phone's storage in Windows, then search for a folder called bitcoin or wallet or search manually for a backup file.

Also, next time be more careful about deleting wallets and be sure you own the secret key to the address before you send money to it.

Don't rely on the security of web and mobile phone wallets. Consider installing the official client (Bitcoin-Qt) or finding another client. Then create new addresses and transfer your bitcoins to them.
