This is a huge blow to Bitcoin users to as many of us. Use fiver for services and since they were accepting Bitcoins it was very useful. Though I feel this is a minor setback thanks to link given by op, I had first seen the site here on Bitcointalk.org and have browsed to it, it's looks nice and easy to use. Now will be using it more extensively. Guess this will soon over take fiver in the long run as most of btc users shall shift here.

Yea, this is definitely a very unfortunate situation. Fiverr seem like a great business to use bitcoin, especially since it was low cost, and u can freelance any service. not sure why fiverr would stop using bitcoin as payment method.

Got the same mail. Didn't they charge a ridiculous fee for accepting bitcoins anyway? The reason behind that decision was a sudden price change of BTC

Fiverr gives a security for the transaction between the project provider and the one who does the work for him. So people can make contact through Fiverr and make a separate transaction escrow for our needs as Fiverr has revealed the statement that they no more accept bitcoin.

Did they give a reason why they are not accepting btc anymore?

Yes.  They said it was because Bitcoin is now dead.
This is not really reassuring news for the bitcoin community because it has been accepting it for along time to make payment for workers of their services.
Now all the sudden they stop without giving any reason to do this?
This is a very peculiar thing to do when most of their users are comfortable with paying in bitcoins to have a job done.
No official press release? Or they just don't think the bitcoin community deserves one when they got to become a bigger company? They are so full of themselves right now. Undecided

It might be because of the high volatility, because merchants do not like high price fluctuations in currencies to operate. If they worked through a payment processors, they would have had to pay a additional fee, to get the bitcoins converted to cash. Fiverr has always been my favorite place to visit, when I had banner Ads made, but I have to look for something else now, because I always paid in bitcoin. ^hmmmm^

Fiverr is a loser, they are just giving flimsy excuses to deny Bitcoin users and I think rival freelancers that pays in Bitcoin are going to lure their members away. It's shocking as all would be freelancers look up to them for most of the online jobs but we live to see what might be the ramifications of their decision.

These are very sad news, it doesn't really help in bigger adoption and wider knowledge about bitcoin. Another bad thing is that Fiverr is a place for "virtually active" people, which means there is a higher chance these people will really understand its advantages (comparing to lets say people who buy newspapers in a local shop). It's a missed opportunity and I wonder why the management of Fiverr decided to stop the possibility of payments in bitcoin.
Maybe it's because of bitcoins volatility? That people are rather paid by something more stable? Huh

are business really changing their mind so easily based on the bitcoin value? no wonder the adoption is still stuck at the same point

if they choose payment gateway they should not worry about the value, they will dump as soon as they get their btc from their customers

Yes, it is very sad news for Bitcoin. In Fiverr there are millions of small-scale business people are active on this website, this sudden decision will effect on bitcoin value. The reason is silly of course the bitcoin price is not stable everyone knows this fact. Anyhow because of this sudden decision, the Bitcoin lost it's value and the PayPal will become more popular in Fiverr website.

The strange thing is, that bitcoin value is currently pretty high. Yes, it experienced a big correction dump, but now we are again around 900 USD and if you compare it to the value six months or a year ago, we are almost on double. And you don't make decision like this overnight, so I think there must be something else, what is behind it. Huh

Yes.  They said it was because Bitcoin is now dead.

No way, bitcoin is not dead how the fiverr team says that and tries to reason out that bitcoin is now dead. For sure they know on what is happening with bitcoin right now. How they can say that a $900+ valued coin would be dead, it is even far from the reality to say that it is dead to have no value at all, maybe fiverr does have their own reason to deny bitcoin.
Dead from the perspective of their business, I guess. They see that the people in their market who use bitcoin for payment method is decreasing lately so they might have made a decision to no longer accept it.
There's nothing wrong if they thought that it might give them some benefits, what we can do?

I am not fimiliar with Fiverr myself, so I can't say how they were accepting Bitcoin payments, but in general, the volatility shouldn't be a concern if merchants accept Bitcoin through BitPay for example. If you compare the business plan of BitPay that only takes 1% in fees, then it's still a far better and cheaper payment tool for merchants than Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, etc. But I am not sure what exactly their reason is for ditching Bitcoin as payment option. It could be that it wasn't being used as much as they were hoping for, and thus they thought it's not worth to continue supporting Bitcoin payments. Or it may have something to do with regulations. Either way, this offers chances to competitors to take over their Bitcoin users.

It was surprise for to hear that Fiverr doesn't accept Bitcoins. But it has nothing to do with the things happening in Bitcoin community. I only know that businesses are not very inclined to accept payments in Bitcoin because of the price volatility issue. If they have real time conversion to the fiat money, it is ok, but if they don't, they are just moving out of it.

Did they give a reason why they are not accepting btc anymore? I really want to know. With services like bitpay I don't really see a reason why they would not unless fees are too high.  Huh Huh Huh

They dont even need to provide any reason whatsoever. Its their service, their site and their rules and there is nothing anyone can do about it. The only thing left is to migrate to another platform that accepts our own choice of currency and OP has rightly given us an option. As unfortunate this might sound since they now have their own "credit" I guess this is part of the challenges bitcoin will face along the line. My hope is that it will survive the onslaught against it.

If they care about their users / customers, they should communicate with them. If you do such a big change without any explanation, it doesn't send a good message to the users.
And as you said, then they should expect that a part of the users will move to a different service, the xbtfreelancer is a good choice for example.
