The blockchain is currently 100+ Gb. Downloading and processing all of that data is entirely dependent on your network connection and the specs of the computer you are using. It will vary for everyone, but generally it is in the range of a few hours to several days.

It depends on your Internet speed!
It could take weeks if you have slow Internet!

when you downloaded the ''blockchain'' for the first time how long did it take you?
and what is the expected time to sync?

I tried only once to download the blockchain .
As I have free and unlimited internet connection in India( reliance jio unlimited free internet data 4G ) I tried to download the blockchain but when I started to download I found it is much complicated to complete the download because , I found that something the speed of the downloading the blockchain was slow ( may be due to Tue server of of blockchain but not sure ) .
But after about 20-30 GB it canceled the download . Because I was fully irritated for this long procedure of 3-5 hour .
Secondly I thing it is not much profitable to download ( if you have no aim to do something experiment ),.

It depends upon the speed of your internet, it took me a whole day to download the complete blockchain but I am talking about the time when it used to be 20 GB, but currently it is too much to be downloaded and I have been using Core since then, so no problems till now. But light wallets are fine if you don't want to download it completely and make your hard disk go populous.

Well could take weeks, depending on your internet connection and storage write speed.
But lightweight wallets are always better option, if you are not hosting a node.

The speed highly depends on hdd and internet connection speed (with ssd i think it wuld be a much faster).
However even for hdd it took about three days for me not a week. So maybe an internet speed is more significant.
Having a full node is good to keep bitcoin a reliable and decentralized. But if you don't have over a hundred of gigabytes for a blockchain or switch a computer one rarely then it could be better to use a lightweight wallet lke already mentioned Electrum.

You can use a simpler wallet.
So you don't have to download.
for example; electrum, in my opinion the best
trying this.

and if it would be not exhausting for PC... but it was my first time syncing my computer was freezing itself, i couldn't do anything, play games or do anything else on it while it as sncing. Completly unusable, so pain of a experience.

I wouldn't download the blockchain if you aren't looking to run a node. Use a lightweight wallet like users have said above and save that hard drive space.  Wink

I would only download it if you want to setup a node to help the overall bitcoin system with reliable connections Wink

A full node fully verifies every single block and transaction it receives. Once validated, the node will relay the block and transaction to all of the nodes that it has connected to. In order to verify, it must download the entire blockchain and verify from the beginning.
