I haven't used their wallet much because they don't give full control to our bitcoin addresses so if their service got down our bitcoin will be stucked with them. I prefer to use blockchain.info and electrum like wallet where we can have private key, if you have to pay fees with xapo than its now better to move to other wallets which give you full control over your addresses and bitcoins.

Fees on receiving bitcoin sound quite strange.  Shocked

Yes and no because:

If you receive more than BTC 0.00031015, no fee applies.

Xapo is already working the same as it was working before for normal users and the fees is started only to stop the dust input of satoshis. They do not want to pay fees for every dust so they want people to collect some high amount of bitcoins/satoshi and then deposit to xapo so then there will be no transaction fees.

The problem is as well the fees for sending satoshi.

I understand charging outgoing transactions but I don't get why do they have to charge incoming transactions too. And for newbies trying bitcoin thru faucets, that is already a very high amount. I remember when I was just starting in bitcoin, i'll only earn 20k sats per day thru faucets. And if that fee applies, then I get nothing. It is not just the end for noobs but for xapo as well.

"Poor noobs", an expression that clearly reflect the disdain with which "experts" tend to think or talk about people who want to approach this emergent economy. This way we want to promote a massive adoption of bitcoin for new users around the world, treating them with contempt?

"poor noobs" is a wanted expression...and it is I believe understood by most of people.
To start Xapo and promote it we (the poor noobs) were enough go fot this...
Now we are just enough good to pay much fees for little transaction.
Hopefully  we have time to go out without fees before midle of february.

Xapo is changing it terms for bad. First they start adding fee for small transactions and now transactions below 0.01 btc are not going through soon. My transaction of 0.003 is not even reflected on blockchain when I sent it 2.5 hours ago. If this continues, I'll stop using it and switch back to coinbase or blockchain.

The noobs will survive.  Think of this as a lesson that they don't have to learn the hard way--that faucets are a waste of fucking time.  These people who spend hours trying to earn pennies would be better off if they spent their time looking for actual work.  Anything is better than trying to earn through faucets.

Despite this happening, Xapo is still my favorite... I'm not too worried about them giving security keys as they protect those using offline encryption + mainly for the debit card. This web wallet strives to be a hybrid platform, the users here are large volume stakeholders or any who plan to be.

i am using my xapo wallet for a long time and for every time i found it okey. i mostly using it for recharging my mobile balance and for every time i time i think my transaction is less than 0.0025 BTC. i never pay extra for any kind of fee and the transaction done within seconds, i will continue its still trusted and reliable

and now, how can you use it because it will charge the fee for every transaction? Xapo is fine to me because it is well secured and try to do their best to protect the people. Xapo users will have to pay for the fee and I believe most of them will migrate to Coinbase. What a disater.

my advice is don't use xapo and better to find another wallet which have small fee for every transaction. i think with multibit, we can manage how much we want to pay for fee in every transaction, we can set it up in how much amount we want. i think there is many online wallet that will give you the option so you can selected with easy.

I'm using this wallet and card for quite long time and it was quite good so far. And most of the transactions were very fast. These changes will not affect my activities because I never receive such a small amounts but not sure whether they are going charge even for sending money from their wallets? I didn't see that message in their site yet.

That you have not seen this message does mean nothing...We have not imagine the page because you can see it...
You will be affect when you will send btc because sending btc is always charged, except if you send to an Xapo user.

There shouldn't be fee-less wallets in the first place anyway. Sending information, sustaining network is not free, the sooner users realize that the better.
When there is no fee for some service then you are probably a product. Some basic examples: your bank account has no fee attached to it? Yes, but bank can use your money to invest, earn from it.
Your Facebook account is totally free? Yes, but Zuckerberg knows about you everything and he sells that knowledge.

Yeah encourage them to be there forever until they can afford the transaction fee.  Grin Way too high and I thought the other exchanges are the ones who are greedy for fees. Now its all coming out. Maybe they are saving some money to expand their company and they are taking it from users.  Grin
Well this is already expected because they really want to impose fees to gain money and they wont bother to give service if they cant make money out of it.There are actually web wallets that doesnt charge any transaction fee like coinbase (opps its not actually a web wallet but an exchange wallet either.)
