If someday we actually get to be immortal, wouldn't this mean that: - The world would, at some time, be with a lot of people and no space. - Then we would need to resort to abortion and birth control. - Then, people would start to get bored sometime.
So, would immortality be worth it?

immortality in the world that does not exist. but it was definitely the eternal hereafter. because there is more space for a lot of people. do not need contraception and abortion, because there is no birth. and will not feel bored, bored just felt while living in the world.

Obviously to remain immortal you must not have child. Once you decide to make one, your immortality is forfeited. I think it would be a great achievement

Basically this, having a child is a way for some part of you to remain when you leave the world, I think in a world where immortality is possible you will need to give up your rights to have kids, and if you want to have kids then you will forfeit your right for immortality.

I would agree to such terms. Although not sure if I want to immortality. Probably it is very boring. It would be nice to immortal man had a chance to die.

I really think that immortality would not be worth it, you would just be tired and be bored on your life if you could live forever.

think of wolverine, he is immortal, i think he is tired from everything he has seen in the world, and having a loved one that is mortal will bring lots of pain. i think it would be cool in the beginning because you can do all the things you want with fear, but it would eventually just become a lifelong rutine.

Of course it is. Imagine being immortal and you have all the time in the world. Then you go to jail and you have a life sentence. Immortal would mean forever in jail. LOL

While people are thinking about how much of a genius you'll become after living for thousands of years, I think this is the more realistic version of immortality: The Man from Earth

You always have to be careful what you wish for.. you ask for immortality and you get to stay alive, but all dried up and unable to move or speak or something.
I think it definitely depends on 'how'. Wouldn't mind being 27 forever!

- if immortality is possible, i think it will also become possible that humans will go to another planets to live, even it would take very long years - no need because of the above statement but possible - ofcourse, imagine if you are already lived for a thousand years and already did all you want.

Depends on what kind of immortality. I assume it's just the ability not to age? If this is the case then it's not so bad.
But hopefully when this happens, we'll have started to colonise other planets.

I think immortality will not be worth it. If people will be immortal, they'll get bored doing the things repeatedly. There will still be space but there will be no peacefulness thru immortality. I dont agree with abortion and birth control for immortality. As i think of immortality, it will just be the same people and no rebirth will happen. But it will really be boring after all. Being an immortal as an idea will give you an excitement yet its a really big challenge of you can handle it forever.

In limited space and increasing population, it would be interesting but cruel world if immortality exist in human world. Because leader will choose survivor mode for human to control human population, you can observe it in China eg : one child policy and people has to struggle a lot before really can achieve immortality. Life is intersting if you keep a positive mindset and life motive isn't achieve immortality but to learn from the process and get the result. Immortality will be meaningful if you live your life in your desirable way without hurting the society.

Basically this is something that looks so similar to a koreanovela that id watch entitled "Goblin" , basically the goblin is a human warrior on his era and died full of regret and his people wish him to be alive and the Almighty grant that request and became immortal he was able to see the full history of the world but its just so sad seeing your people died due to age.

Immortality is meaningless. Because you have to regulate the birth rate. And a person will simply get bored of living for several thousand years and he will want to commit suicide.

This topic reminds me of Wolverine. I recently watched Logan, and I think that it would be fun at the start, but in the long run, it's going to get boring, maybe you can get tired of adjusting to the people around you and you will get used to getting hurt because all of your friends will probably die and that's a sad thing to see.

Life then depreciates in the case of immortality and turns into a real boring hell. Especially if you can not even commit suicide. Wait for several thousand years to do the same thing

In my opinion, living immortal isn't worth it since it's a kinda boring. Also, I hate missing people I loved since being an immortal doesn't mean you'll belong to your lovoed ones for a long time.

Well if the purpose of making babies is to grow our population or replace the deads then making babies could become unnecessary in an immortal society. Any Civilization that is capable of achieving immortality can as well invent stuff to take care of those fears you listed

It will be impossible to be completely immortal, since you could always get killed by an accident but I think if it came to the point humans reached something even close to it then some legislation will be pout in place, like those that are immortal cannot reproduce.

Right. If there is immortality, then the children will not be needed. Because if the number of people constantly increases and does not die, then all will not have enough space and resources.

Immortality is too long. Especially if there is no second half for the sake of which you can live. I would choose 100-200 years of life, but at the same time always stay young and in my right mind.

Immortality might sound amazing and awesome. This just really will not make you happy at all if you will want to rest already. You will just wish to die because of boredom. It would be great if you have a mission to preserve the entire species of humanity and help the light come brighter than the darkness.

If there is immortality in this life, new people won't have to keep on becoming scientists to take the place of scientists who die. A scientist who has lived 200 years will develop great inventions, because he will have a long time to concentrate. He will develop Star-Trek-style space warps. We will leave earth, and populate the infinite number of planets out there. There will never be population that can outgrow colonizing the stars.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Most people that commit suicide have some form of mental illness. I wouldn't say suicide is ideal, but I don't think it's always a sin.

Scientists have also has its own specifics. When I was in school, I had no problem with inorganic chemistry, but I did not understand organic chemistry. And scientists they come up with their idea and forever become hostages to the idea. They did not invent anything fundamentally new. They will only upgrade an old one.

I think it would be worth it. But it depends on your goal. what is your goal on why do you want to be immortal. If your goal is to accumulate all the knowledge in the world I think it is fine . but if you goal is to just live I think you would be tired at some point and you will regret being an immortal.

In my opinion immortality is not worth because being immortal means seeing your love ones die one by one and you'll have never ending problems cause when you are still alive problems are just around the corner, being immortal wouldn't let you rest
