What error you got when you try to register at crowdsale site?

You must have to wait until website get fully loaded after this you will be able to create account there.

I wanna use the basic ethereum wallet. I make a new account and I give the address to the ICO. Then will I see the balance on my wallet?

It could take less than 1 week for low tier exchange and more than 1 week to get to added to tier 1 exchange but anyhow if they could verified and proof that their plan could go long, guess within few weeks time it will be added to bittrex

you need to list the adress that only you know the private key. Don't list adress from an exchange.
You can create your private adress very fast on MEW ( my ethereum wallet ) and keep the private key safe

If you own your private keys than it's ok to receive your tokens but Myetherwallet is more compatible wallet. You still have time to change your change wallet address into your dashboard.
